Peace Terms - Japan

Mon May 14, 2012 5:37 am

All,

I've been at war with China and Korea for approximately one year and have made gains by seizing Korea, parts of Manchuria and Beijing proper.

However, I am at a loss for being able to actually dictate peace terms. The only offerings I can make are the ones that I am not so concerned about...reparations and limiting military size.

When viewing warscore, no options for peace treaties, I get nothing in return.

Help?

PS. I tried installing the 'quickfix' from a previous thread, where a Russian player was having similar problems. No luck.

Well, there wasn't much response here, so I ended up just installing 1.02d and it at least enabled me to view the potential peace terms.

But that has brought me to a second impasse.

The war with China has lasted for almost three years now. I've taken all of Korea, approximately half of Manchuria, the capital at Beijing and roughly one third of the entire country, that being the most populous and economic powerhouse of the country. My armies are three provinces north of Canton. I am facing stubborn opposition and have virtually won every major battle in recent memory. But, my war score only improves in minor amounts.

For all of this, I haven't even achieved 400 war score. I cannot even transfer the colony of Formosa, which is still almost 500. Korea is an astounding 1700 in value. At this rate, I will need to occupy the entirety of the Chinese lands for a couple years, to get them to capitulate.

Has anyone else faced this problem? I'm not under the impression that this is any sort of bug per se, but what am I doing wrong?

I've loosened the historical claims, but I still cannot request provinces due to not having a mutual border, due to the maritime issue. Am I doomed to make this war last a decade and complete occupation?

first, i havent opened your file, what year are u in?

second, yes, this topic has been broadly discussed various times from the very beginning people did play Japan and tried to get all strategic objectives as soon as possible.

yes, this is known, yes there are glitches, no it is not unplayable, yes there are different issues with war score in general in PON, no not all issues are related to diplomatic options bug nor to your ability to adjust playing the game.

please look it up in the PARADOX INTERACTIVE FORUM where it has been discussed more detailed.

for the military occupation its essential WHEN you have your war, before or after the Chinese civil war ended. There was a glitch that even if yo occupied ALL China, spawning of Taiping rebellion forces would continue and you would be under the impression of never being defeated enemy

however, prone to throw them into disarray.

PS:

‘Everything is very simple in War, but the simplest thing is difficult. These difficulties accumulate and produce a friction which no man can imagine exactly who has not seen War . . . in War, through the influence of an infinity of petty circumstances, which cannot properly be described on paper, things disappoint us, and we fall short of the mark.‘
