Let's see, what is exactly what you want to see in the game?... a "private british entrerprise on foreign soil"? ;)

Not in Argentina it wasn't. And neither was U.S. Fruit's dominion of Central America. ;)

I really hope that such economic quasi-colonial status will be modelled in the game. :)

Another example, the Congo as private property of the King of Belgium...

The "heydays" of Hudson Bay Company were largely passed by the time VGN starts, although the company still existed (and exists today)...it will be modeled as an economic infrastrucutre. Canada is still under full British sovereignty by 1850 (The North America Act is from 1867 only).

A more interesting 'company' is factored in the game; the East India Company, which is a de facto subfaction (= semi-independent / allied) of Great Britain and which 'rules' most of India.

Are there economic benefits for Great Britain to have the East India Company as a subfaction?

Not really, because the econmy is still British...the trouble with the EIA is more on the political / military level, and also on the diplomatic level (i.e. local "pre-Raj" diplomacy is limited for GB in India until the EIA is dissolved, i.e. post 1857 Sepoy Rebellion)

Out of curiosity, if I chose to play the EIC, could I avoid my dissolution and go right on playing until the end of the game? :)

I don't think you can chose to play the EIC.
Only the 9 big powers (UK, France, Prussia, Austria, USA, Japan, Ottomans, Russia... mmm i'm missing someone... Italy maybe?? :bonk :) will be playable on the grand campaign. (at least until some one mods the game so you can play Bhutan, San Marino... or the EIC ;)
On shorter scenarios the playable nations will be different of course.
Cheers

EIC will be playable only in the 1857 Sepoy Rebellion scenario
