- will there be a market where we will be able to buy/sell things ?
- if yes - what things will we be able to buy/sell ?

some tidbits of info. Yes, you have commerce. More than 25 kinds of trade goods, which are produced locally and are exported to your metropolitan area, or bought by foreign countries (either with land commerce or transport fleets).
There is no 'world market' where you pour your merchandises anonymously. You can embargo some countries or compete with others for the best products.

Well, i would also like to say that "i can't wait to have this game" like others, but i feel the same way for NPC, but can't buy it, not because of the price or anything like that, but simply because AACW gives me no time for other things (and i wasn't even interested in American Civil War, look what it did to me, i started to talk about Burnside's sideburns with grognards :tournepas ), and if i buy it, i won't be able to stop myself, so i'll be sleepless all the time, which in return will cost me a job and a wife. I'm so against the publishing of VGN, and will do everything to stop it, because i'm intersted in the period, and it's gonna turn me into an anti-social obese freak sitting in front of the computer screen all the time, they will have to use a shovel to seperate me from my chair  .

I would like to know what "corps size military" means that's mentioned in the first post by PhilThib. Are we gonna create divisions instead of brigades?

One other thing, Pocus was mentioning a "secret project of AGEod" in a thread. Is it this game or is it just another one? If it is another one, don't tell me it is about WW2 or i'll shoot myself (yes Sir, that's a serious threat :siffle: )

I wish you wouldn't talk about me like this..... :siffle: :niark: :niark:

It's another game.
But it's so secret that if they told you it was about the WW2 they will have to shoot you to keep the secret. No need to commit suicide. :niark:

I don't have a clue about the setting of the secret project but i also hope it's not about the WW2. :siffle:

Besides, if people were to tell what the secret project is, then it wouldn't be very secret anymore, would it? ;)

It is about men and projectiles ... and they have enemies. Some have cities too. In the end, some win, but others lose.

And in this game do the game developers kill their fans with curiosity? Is this an evil plan to remove some of us here? :D

That may or may not be the entire purpose of the secret project. The men and projectiles may or may not be a cleanup squad for the not so curious. Nobody can say.

Hummm... plenty of clues here!!
So... on which war some people had cities and others not???
War of the worlds maybe?? :tournepas
Ghengis Khan Campaigns?? :dada:
Do death rays and arrows count as "projectiles"?? :bonk:
And martians as "men"?? :niark:

Maybe Roman era. Men without cities would be wandering hordes of barbarians. That is my dearest hope at least.

OK, I got it!

Major League Baseball !!!

Throwing the ball.
Nobody likes the Yankees.
Many stadiums are not in the ciities.
And the Cubs never win.

It fits! :niark: :niark: :niark:

Now, seriously... :sourcil:
Can we have a "War of the Worlds" scenario for VGN??
HG Wells book is originally set on the Victorian England!
Or maybe the martians attack could be a random event on the main campaign! :niark:
Surely it will bring a nice change of pace to the game as the mighty England is chrushed by the Martian tripods :siffle:

Thats a relief. I was suspecting it would be the Aztec ball game, complete with a high priest showing up at your door when you lose. PhilThib probably cancelled that project when they ran out of "modding volunteers".

I believe Paradox Vicky is one of the best computer-grand-strategy games ever made. I wish you can add as much of the good ideas these great paradox boys have done.

However, it is hard to master, several long-time-wargamers friends of mine didnt ever tried. (They played CK/EU or HoI, as they are not so ultra-detailed).

I vote for MORE nanomanagement!!! :tournepas ... Although i understand you should go for less ... you must earn your living. (But still hope some advanced version for addicted & mad for the detail people could be released, once costs could be payed...)

The main problem i can see in paradox games is that they are "too" open so history can go wild, playing as a minor italian county you can win the game on hard setting by turning into an unrealistic enormous-sized empire... Well, they tried 300 years history so... hope you can upgrade it.

The best thing in Vicky is how simulated the fight of classes for their rights... i e the inner-political theme. Also, the way it simulates economy--- exploit populace to turn into a wealthy country-> being the one that more "Added Value" can "export"...

The military thing seemed secondary to me in Vicky.

About translations...
"Vanagloria de las Naciones" could be an exact translation, but normal spanish language does not use it...

I believe the title should go "Vainglory of Nations", and then in small letter down -> "Gloria y Vanidad de las Naciones" (similar to french translation somewhat comented) it should be more understandable, and keeps the idea.

It remembers me of AH -> "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" -> "Auge y declive del tercer reich"

When can we see a screen of the map you will be using for this game ?
In every such game I am a bit angry that maps are so small that Germans have two provinces to reach Paris :tournepas

Depends from where you start ;)

France has 28 regions IIRC, and the Paris-Berlin distance is 9 regions, if I count right.

Oh. Its the real world... Warcraft / Warhammer / Guild Wars / and some others fantasy worlds have millions? of customers.

I ve had also fun playing the lord of the rings play by mail (10 years ago? not by e-mail we went to the store to give orders and get back results), trying to steal a crown for your Nazgul + 20 extra combat - powerful.

I did even thinked some time ago about a "strategic-roleplay" gameafter playing the Lion Rampant - Ars Magica series... Unfortunately we did lost our second edition, now we have just 3rd.

Just think when our head starts a headache trying to coordinate all those corps... its time to have a good time playing some Titan-style game.

heh. So does this mean that there are only two provinces from the German border to Paris and that Belgium and the Netherlands are only one province each ? :p leure:
