Questions on Ottoman Empire

Mon Dec 08, 2014 12:20 am

So I am playing as the Ottoman Empire and If I do say so, the Sultan has established a wise and prosperous rule. I was looking to branch out a bit and expand my influence in areas naturally under my command. This is difficult however because the Ottoman's seem to be lacking not just in explorer cards on the colonial screen, but explorers in general. I noticed there isn't even a file for them in the models folder or anywhere else. I have noticed that modern day Saudi Arabia does not ever get explored. I feel like the Ottoman player should be able to at least do this as that is in the natural sphere of influence. Have any of the PBEM games explored this option and if so are there files/modding/coding I could borrow (and i mean steal, but with my never ending gratitude in exchange)? I feel like this is the next step otherwise that game is just going to be really boring.

Somewhere here, there was a script written that forced an "unexplored" region to be explored. Can't remember who wrote it, or when (I could be wrong, and it could have been on the old Paradox forum, but I think it's here somewhere). In the forum, there are examples of scripts to give countries decision cards, as well as give the Ottoman Empire diplomats (that's another problem of playing the Ottoman Empire - no diplomats). You may have to search, I would definitely look at the PBEM section, as there were 2 big multi-player PBEMs, "Conflict in Europe" and "World in Conflict". Conflict in Europe had at least 3 threads, so you might have to check all (there was a Conflict in Europe and a Conflict in Europe Redux).
Remember - The beatings will continue until morale improves.

i know the script to make regions explored. That can be done from the console in game with the proper region IDs and adding decision cards is not difficult. I was hoping to do this all in a way that didn't feel as much like cheating frankly. Creating a model and the unit for Ottoman explorers seemed a way to cheat without essentially giving the game away. I just don't know what it takes to physically add a unit to the game, if copy/pasting another model file is enough or if I have to give it its own ID#, link it with other files etc. It seems like there might be a step or two I would miss and I don't want to break the game.
