German Minor Countries

Does Prussia eventually gain the minor countries such as Saxony, Holstein, etc., thru the unification process? Im just trying to weigh trying to take them by conquest or be patient and win them by peaceful means thru the unification decisions...perhaps it would be foolhardy to take them by force since they seem to be almost part of the nation any way....?

There are multiple paths to unification. The historical path that involves a few historical wars OR you can play the unification cards you get that will trigger unification at a set date OR a combination of both.

the advantage to doing this the peaceful way (either by event or the unification cards) is you gain a lot of cash and stocks of goods as well as their existing armies. The latter is a bit limited in that they will not then upgrade, so you can end up with 1850 divisions/corps hanging around in your army around 1900. On a battlefield with a modern opposition they are dead on arrival but you can still use them to garrison key locations or perhaps in colonial warfare.

If you stomp them and force unification, they you can't (I think?) gain their stockpiles, but you maybe able to make progress more quickly than the historical timeline allows
