YouTube Video Tutorials Please.

Tue Jun 03, 2014 6:23 am

Hey all you guys at AGEOD,
I've been looking for some tutorial videos on YouTube for PoN but there are none! It must be the only grand strategy game without any tutorials on YouTube! There's a short developer's walkthrough but it's very brief and not long enough to learn from. There are also a lot of Let's Plays but only with classical music playing all the way through them and no voice over's at all! How are you supposed to learn without any commentary?!!
Please commission a series by some of the experts and very helpful members of your PoN forum.
I love the look of this game and really want to get started on it (I've had the game for a year but it's complexity and the fact there's no video tutorials on YouTube is why I've not got round to trying to learn how to play it yet).
I bought it with a number of other Paradox games. So in that time I've learnt to play the other's I bought (Hearts Of Iron 3, Crusader Kings 2, Victoria 2 and Europa Universalis - Divine Wind).
I love these games and they've become some of my all time favourite strategy games. I'm sure PoN will be the same when I know how to play it.
However, my favourite way of learning to play games with quite a high learning curve, is by reading the docs and watching video tutorials.
So how about it AGEOD? Can we please have some video tutorials? They really do help the learning process and get you playing faster than docs alone (and all the Alt Tabbing out of the game to read them!).
Thankyou

I know I've posted on this subject before, but this is a question specifically for the devs and AGEOD as a company

I think that Loki's AAR already teaches everything you might need to know about how to play this game. :)

Yeah I know but sometimes I'm not in the mood for loads of reading and would rather just watch a video instead. And I guess I'm not the only one bearing in mind all the tutorials and let's plays on youtube.
That's not taking anything away from Loki's AAR as what I've already read of it is fascinating stuff.
I'm also disabled and on morphine so when I read stuff I can forget it again very easily or my mind may wander and I'm not taking any of it in

Unfortunately I've never made a youtube video myself, and I don't have any clue on how to (nor interest), so I don't know how to help you. As I said before though, I'm here to help you with anything I can :)

Cheers

A lot of the Ageod games have a severe lack of presence on youtube or any of the other video websites out there. Doing a Let's Play of this game would be very time intensive, especially for people on older machines that have longer turns.

I'd definitely watch one if it were there, because I love watching videos of games I like to see how others play.

I wish there were videos of PON, I would surely appreaciate, I also love watching how other people play, that's why I'm always asking people to start AARs. :)

Yeah it's very strange. There's plenty fpr Alea Jacta Est (yeah I know...spelling!) but nothing for any of the others which I very odd.
Couldn't AGEOD as a company commission some? I would have thought just intrusting Loki or HerrDann with some video capture gear and
a microphone would be a great start.
It's not right when all the other grand strategy games have such a heavy presence on YouTube but not the AGEOD games. Masterpieces need video tutorials these days. Look how much support the classic Paradox games get. We haven't all got IQ's like Richard Hawking.
I used to enjoy learning from a mixture of learning techniques especially when we always got hefty manuals you could stick on your lap, perusing the manual and what was on screen together.
But now we don't get manuals anymore so we're faced with going bankrupt buying ink refills to print it out on your desktop printer, or habitually pressing alt-tab every few minutes to keep exiting the game and be able to consult with manual!
So please AGEOD, use some of your very own Forum members and give them the required stuff to make videos about your games on YouTube.
All the Paradox developed games have a great presence online with games getting several tutorials on the same game by various YouTube members!
Plus, it will de - mystify all your games and just like paradox, it will mean more profits as the tutorials and let's plays work as great advertisements for each game.
So come on AGEOD, use these clever people to get you some much needed space on YouTube and some of the other game video channels

Loki has already made a video as you asked :)

I don't think I'd be the ideal candidate for that, Loki's cats are super ;)

Amazing indeed! I laughed when you said "the emperor is going to save us", I imagined the scene when Napoleon "Le Petit" ended up captured by the prussian army, and your ironic tone made me laugh out loudly here :mdr: btw your cat complaining was nice ;)
