changing factions

playing version 1.03d following advice on forums to try and play as Spain,went into console mode and typed in Change Faction SPA ,got message saying 'there is no faction called SPA' any help as to what I do to play as Spain,cheers

CHangeFaction SPA is for testing purposes. Processing turns after ChangeFaction is fraught with problems. Instead, start a game as someone - maybe someone who should send alliance offers to Spain or the like. Enter SwitchFaction SPA in the console. Then process the turn, and it will switch you to Spain and you play as Spain as you desire.

Even better, make it playable through scripted command (see our old thread in Paradox forums) and play it next turn. This is the ideal to avoid any kind of issues. Even more stable than SwitchFaction.

Thanks for the suggestions, cant find the thread on paradox forums so will try Sir Garnets way
