PhilThib, while you and Pocus are looking into this, you might want to take a broader look at the whole crisis module. To me, having now played this game seriously for six months, it is a complete "black box"; I have no idea what goes in or comes out, from either a gamer's or a data perspective. This is very frustrating, since it seems to me to be the core of what's unique in this game. On the most basic level, I can't as a player precipitate a crisis when I want one. On the next level, they seem to happen randomly, so I can't see them building up: No messages like "Tensions between you and the Austrians are increasing."

I also wish the player had more control over crises. The crisis system is one of the really unique features of the game, but they occur too infrequently, and apparently randomly, to be as much fun as they could be.

actually, the crisis system triggered more often in the very beginning of the beta patches and needed to cut down extremely.

you had an uncontrolled situation giving you plenty of crisis over the northpole and so on.

the crisis system IS manageable if you sit down and learn about the cards.
there were few very good threads about it at PARADOX forum.

I learned from them, had FOUR crisis events in 28 years and managed to gain 26% Prestiges superiority over UK alone from the few crisis. (having later on 54% of reached goal USA compared to 13% for UK, since you also STEAL Prestige from the loosing AI proportionally to the total Prestige of the AI)

so i for my part am very glad of the FEW crisis triggered.

before the changed pattern, and without knowledge over the cards and strategies, it was impossible for me to gain prestige, lost it to AI again and again.

PON has no deathmatch function, thats good for a long run strategy game. too many people have a good reason to desire a better diplomaacy in the game and dont understand that you need a certain level of aggressiveness (was it 7 or 8?) to have the option to forge casus belli.
so they look out for alternatives....
but lads, even if you have a valid point, the crisis system will destroy the game if you dont understand the system itself, or if it happens to often.

HINT (CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR FREE):

you just have to get high COLONIAL PENETRATION in the region of another nation and you will see a crisis or two (LIKE US vs UK in Canada, PRUSSIA vs US in SAMOA...)

there is nothing for sure of course, but believe me, its neither random, nor desirable to be an exploitable tool instead of diplomacy.
