International crisis

Fri Aug 05, 2011 7:48 am

Hi,

I do not understand how i can resolve international crisis.
OK for the engine and the way to play cards as a poker game.

But i do not know when i should play one card or another one and moreover which consequences have the cards on the crisis process (just cause, prestige...)
If somebody have time to explain me, that will be nice.
(with print screen, that will be perfect ;) ).

Thank you

No pictures, and I have had sadly few crises despite my efforts, but there are a few things to keep in mind.

1. There are several computer-suggested strategies you can look at with different goals. They are worth studying.

2. If you don't want a war, focus on getting or keeping Just Cause. Just Cause makes it cheaper for you in prestige to play cards to raise both sides' contributions to the stash.

3. Dominance is the goal that wins the crisis and determines who gets what -you want a positive number if you are the initiator, negative if the target. If it gets to +3 or -3 the crisis is over and the initiator or target wins.

You can try to make an international crisis. I massed armies and fleets near a border to defend against Austria or Prussia but there was a crisis with the Swiss (with somewhat positive relations), not a crisis I wanted. If a power is trying to declare a protectorate or colony, and you have a presence, you may be able to place a stake as a colonial decision to provoke a crisis. Has not happend so far for me.
