bug!? need help...

Sun Jul 10, 2011 9:34 pm

have a game running in the year 1858, all stable, all fine ´til now. damn good patch, however...

now every time i call up F6 for the "social + city folder" the game totally crash

Main log given:

[...]

EDIT

PS:

i ´ve installed patch 1.0h public from June-30-2011 like textbook (includes deleting old folders)

modified the commonly known problem with the window mode in the display.opt
and disabled suddendeath settings like textbook

saves no longer available, for i tried first to recreate older saves with POS1 before using the word BUG

funny thing, it worked partially.

only tool doesnt work is F6. (i am even able to process the next turn)

As soon F6 window pops up, diagrams (circles) for religions and ethnics are hollow, gray.

Situation before the problem, just got the Minnesota colony as officially state of US

Darn it! why have i stopped to make additional 6monthly.saves

Dear Yellow Ribbon, do you use an unchanged socalled Vanilla version of PON...?? Are there any new countries/nations emerged eventually as revolter ones...?? Have you patched the original to the latest BETA 1.01h...? And if so have you patched it over a patch before...??

For the best analyzisis you should provide a zip-packed file containing the appropriate saves for your current campaign and then send it to PhilThib if he has enough time...

That is the only advice I can give you as an old AGEOD grognard...

heartly welcome and greetings

Hello Yellow Ribbon

Have you applied the 1.01 patch for out-of-the-box versions, available at Paradox ?
This should be applied before any beta patch

Regards

Hi Franciscus,

yeah, as i said, did it like textbook.

Means, everything like told by senior forum members and development team.

played about 8 days without any problem since 1.01h

my kid brother even started a new grand campaign in the morning without trouble with any function

strange, i am able to do everything but the social decisions / that above mentioned folder move immediatly to a critical problem emergency shut down

and i had only Primavera P6 (ALL week long) running in the background, thus should not be a DirectX related problem

You are playing with USA, right?

I have solved this bug last week... but if you want, send me your current turn compressed (the one that is crashing) and I will test it on the new .exe to see if it really solves your problem or not. ;)

hello generalisimo, thx for offering a try

I DO hope so,

playing a other country and having a colony in Minnesota in the year 1858 would be a HUGE anachronism

Lakotas overrunning the Yankees even before Custer...? :mdr:

as i told here, i crashed in 1858 and recreated some turns by POS1.
I were even able to process next turns, just to run into the same trouble when i ckecked for social decisions.

Did not intend to yell "HELP! BUG!" without trying some DIY !

Still have the files which are not in the backup folders .hst ; .ord ; .tm

and a backup of turn2601 where i am not aware of the fact, how close it was to the crash (prior or afterwards)

would they do some good?

Please confirm whether i should torture you with external data and i forward it. :indien:

Although most bugs were related to the gamessoftware, but sometimes you got some file corruption without recognisation by yourself as you install the game. Why...?? It could happen that your anti-virus software influence your installation or even your firewall did it...but sometimes your current driver situation can cause some trouble on your machine.

Thus I suggest you to copy your current game to another partition or an USB-Stick if possible then delete the game and try a very complete refresh of you whole necessary drivers and if you use another anti-virus software than Microsoft Security Essentials than install MSE because it is usually gamesfriendly than most other proggies...

Then after this complete refreshment you should install your game either from disk or from your download sector but not usually from any internet portal to reduce any problems and please shut down for that time either Internet as even your Anti-Virus Scanner and your firewall because then you can reduce any fault from that side which is not always recognizable for others...

Then do it new and after installing the Vanilla Version updating to 1.01a or such else and then use the latest BETA patch 1.101h and install it and then push the necessary save into the appropriate save folder and try your luck again and then if you could reproduce the bug send it packed as zip to any member of the BETA team with additional comments what you have done sofar before installment and after that thus they can reproduce the bug if possible that would help them much as I know from some software bugs from another publisher from the past...

that is it sofar as I think...

heartly greetings

Oh that is really imaginable, why should it not happen...*grin* something like a very BIG "Little Big Horn" Battle like in those days...

Sry for my sarcastic reading comment but sometimes it is nice to see how a games AI recreates history somehow...

In those time the situation would have been much uglier if the Sioux would have been able to react in some other way to the threat by the US Army forces in those days...

Custer has underestimated his situation totally and was not able to react in a proper way as it would have been useful because he seems to have had some big dream as it was often written in some good american history books...*sigh* And Reno was too far away from him...
