Game won't start

Fri Aug 21, 2009 10:33 am

I've just bought and installed the game (on Vista), first time I try to start it, it fails saying:

Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library

Debug Assertation Failed!

Program:C:\Program Files\World War One\WW1.exe

File:fopen.c
Line:54

Expression: (file!=NULL)

Any idea what I can do, I've tried patching up to date but it makes no difference.

Thank You

I've tried uninstalling and removing all traces of the game and demo before reinstalling but it still doesn't work. Neither the demo or the game from cd works for me. The files Serial.ini and WW1.ini are definitely in the game folder. I'm not sure there is anything else they're suggesting.

I have disabled UAC in Vista, I have uninstalled ww1 complete, also done a full registery sweep clean using Tuneup Utilities 2009, I'm going to try and reinstall game but at the same time make sure that I don't have any other programs running such as anti-virus software, as sometimes they interfere with installing games! Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it works this time, thanks again for reply.

Oh, did nothing, just searched here and there ;)

But what was the clue then, disable the UAC?
