empty detachment

Can someone explain what an empty detachment represents? Example in the Serbia scenario, there are two units in the province, both detachments. One is made up of a corps, the other is empty.

In Serbia scenario all detachments contain unit(s) at start! :bonk:
Maybe a graphic problem (graphic card incompatible?) so you don't see the unit graphics? Indeed I see a strange black sprite in the screenshot...

I use the Nvidia GT220 card.

I'm certain that this is not a video card glitch, because all of the corps that are actually in this scenario show up in the non-empty units.

The phenomena is at least consistent, in that the extra empty units are created every time I play the scenario, immediately after hitting 'next phase' from the initial redeployment phase. I'm playing as the Austrians, and these empty units appear for the Serbians.

Is it possible that these are the 'ghost' units reported by others?

Ahh ok now I understand. You Austrian are watching inside enemy stacks! :mdr:
It's not fair... ;)

You are watching enemy "decoys".

Interesting!?

Do decoys really exist?

Then again I've always played with Fog on.

I'd like to know because I'm finding some strange things happen as I progress deeper into the Grand Campaign. I'll give details in a separate thread when I get a handle on it.

Yes, the decoys exist.

I've had my units in the same region as one of these before and not a battle to be found. :D

Any idea if there's still decoys with Fog of War on?

It may explain some multiple stack occupancy issues I've seen recently.

Indeed AI uses decoys if FoW is on. ;)
