Help needed from Newbie

Hi I'm just learning the nuances of the game and I'm stuck. Just started my first grand campaign, it's August, and the red flags signify that some of the Russian armies have mandatory attacks scheduled. I've moved my French armies successfully (the red flags turned to green) but when I try to move the Russians over Austro-Hungarian armies the red flags stay red. What do I need to do? How do I know where these armies must attack??

Do you remember what the Warplan said to do? That is the only way I know of.

No!!!! How dumb am I. I didn't pay too much attention because I was just messing about with things. Does the Warplan give specific attacks for each army?

Yes. You can start another dummy game and read what they are is one way I know of.

Click on the red flaged armies and take their route deep into either germany, or AH then if the green flag appears, merely change their movement orders next turn. VERY EASY! :)

Most armies with required attacks can be sent anyplace in enemy territory and satisfy the requirements. However, there are some-including some Russian armies in the south that have specific provinces that must be invaded (under certain plans). If you send them into a non official target province-regardless if it is in enemy territory-it will not count as satisfying the requirements of the Grand Plan that you chose.

So, you need to click on the red flag and read what it says. It will tell you where an army needs to go-otherwise it will just say that there is a required attack.
