Enemy Units in my provinces!?

Wed Jul 21, 2010 11:51 pm

Hi all, just got the game, liking it so far, but I've run into a situation in my first grand campaign.

Im GER and both the UK and FRA are occupying the same spaces as my units. They moved into spaces which I was defending, but no combat resulted. The game still says I still control the space, but the enemy takes control of the rails. The next turn both of our stacks remain on that space.

I tried to continue with the next turn hoping the issue would resolve itself, but again there is no combat between us. It also seems they are blocking the movement of my stacks on those spaces.

I've attached the save files from both turns. Check Lille in the earlier save aswell as a few more along the French border, Longiny and Colmar IIRC. I get kicked out of Lille, but the situation persists along the French border.

This commonly happens when a battle has been already taken place in the area or if you already fought that units in a previous impulse during the same turn. In short words, no double battle against the same forces or inside the same area. During following turns, if you move another stack in that area, a combat should takes place, including all your friendly forces already located there.

Examining your save, I see there are yet some battles stored inside, even though from turn #3 (you're playing turn #4!). So I believe this is the cause: battles are not erased (indeed only sieges are to be saved as long they last).

So I'm adding a fix to avoid such problems. You'll find the fix in the next patch (1.08L).

In the meanwhile, herewith enclosed you can find your saves where I removed the old battles stored. This should be a solution.

Thanks,
Calvinus.

Hmm I went back and kept playing, but the French GHQ continues to move into my stack without battle in Charleroi. Even started a new game same issues occur. And it always seems to be the French GHQ. Gets to be like a black hole, units move in but nothing can move out of the space, really slows down the drive for Paris when I Army is in that space. Is there a way I can fix easily by editing saves or should I wait for a patch.

Does it happen if you play in WEGO mode? Otherwise, what is your actual configuragion of play mode?

Of course, I probably should have started with all that. I have the default from setting 1.08i, I do not activate my armies one-by-one. So that is not WEGO mode, right? Sorry, just got the game so Im not familar with all the terms. I went with the least complicated option since this was my first game.

Ill try it again with the different options.

Seems to go away with the Army-by-Army activation. Guess I'll just move up to that level, it seems like the "real" mode anyways. Thank you for your help.
