Supply and Retreat

Playing Entente, this applies to most plans, though the current one is XVII/Rupprecht. The Germans attack across the Moselle into Belfort, which is defended by a strong detachment of the French I Army. I lose and choose to flee to one of the two provinces below me (I forget the names, but I have tried both) instead the detachment shows up in Charmes, empty and with a message saying it suffered a major morale loss due to a retreat far from supply. There are no enemy detachments around other than the one attacking and nothing otherwise blocking the retreat to one of the two other provinces. So my question is, what is going on and what can I do to stop it?

I noticed that too. It happens the retreat direction you selected is not "parsed" as a supply source, so the game engine chooses another target. I have to investigate.
