Performance...

Trying out the demo...

Well, it's better than it was at release (in fact, now that the map is properly oriented, it seems like a pretty fun game), but, seriously, it's not like it's tracing supplies in real time or something! A game that's a map with pieces on it shouldn't lag like crazy on a modern computer.

Is this because the engine doesn't support multi-core processors (i.e., it only uses a single core), or what?

EDIT: I tried lowering the security level from the setup file, but it doesn't help that much.

Try moving the unit on map and map scroll bars to the left. Speeds up unit move and map scrolling.

Do you have a slow map scrolling?
1) Move the map scrolling slider on the left
2) The incoming official patch 1.08F contains a tweaking for map scrolling on some CPUs, hope it will help

I don't think it's the scroll speed - it's ok, it's just that it stutters.

I found that loading the whole thing, plus the sounds (from the configurator) actually helped, too, but it's still choppy at high zoom-out.

I'll see what else is possible.
