Tutorial update

Mon May 17, 2010 9:36 am

Its a shame the tutorials haven't been updated to take in the gold version.

I went through them hoping it would show me how to use the new features. Having to find that sweet spot to merge units was annoying and is something that isn't a problem with the new features.

Also I find tryng to place the units during a battle a real pain...again you have to find just the right area for the unit to take.

My apologises for this. The main problem was the almost total lack of translators... :( :( :(

What we can do in the meanwhile is to discuss how tutorials can be enriched and improved... ;)

First, remove any unexisting province from the tutorial, like that Soldau reference in tutorial #2. :bonk:

Yes, we will do it for sure.

It's important also we keep in mind the actual Tutorials cannot be enriched with the new features coming with Gold edition (army management window, battle logs).
This is because customers who don't want to buy the Gold kit can still use the free patch 1.07, that does not contain these new features!

Instead, we can add new tutorials, only for the Gold edition, of course.

Just two ideas:

1) one tutorial for Trench warfare only, based on Caporetto scenario (Italy), where you plan and execute a Grand Offensive - this tutorial could be ok also for 1.07

2) one tutorial that explains all new features introduced by Gold Edition.

But honestly... Are the new features so complicated that we absolutely need a tutorial?
Hell no, there are more practical than everything else, and it's not like it was a shame not to update the tutoriales with these new features.

Think your forgetting the new blood that will buy the Gold edition and wonder why the tutorials for one tell you to move a unit to an area that doesnt exist and two why they don't cover many aspects of the game that make it easier to play.

It's fine to say not to bother if you already know the system.

I'm sure many people have decided to buy the game first time now the gold edition is here. They must be taken into account.

Remember your new customers are just as important and in the end they will prob outweigh your old ones.

The gold demo -obviously- is the gold version of the game.

I'm planning to develop a Tutorial #4, only for Gold version, where I explain how to manage Grand Offensives and I show the new features of Gold edition. :)

Tutorial #4 is currently under development.

I plan to deliver it within the first official patch 1.08D for WW1 Gold! :)

I will need of some help for translating all new texts into German, French and Spanish languages. Plus, of course, some proof reading for English language. ;)

Volunteers are welcome. You can send me a PM with your email address.
I will send you all new texts as soon the Tutorial is finished.

Thanks in advance,
Calvinus.

So where are you suppose to move to or doesn't it matter? I couldn't get the End Turn button to be active so I figured I must be doing something wrong.
