Right!
It was 24th May 1915!
......Guess 1815 is.... second nature after so many time spent over 1815 NCP modding!
......BTW, a new The Eagle Returns Campaign version is to be released soon!

WWI will be a hard game to market to the masses. But it does look like quite an ambitious game. Looks good to me!

I must announce my anticipation for a grand WWI title such as this -- as has been pointed out numerous times, there really aren't too many WWI games to choose from on the PC market. Yet, it was arguably the most "horrible" war in the history of humanity, with the numbers to prove it. In no other war did so many die for so little ground.

So when can we get our hands on some juicy pics?

:) Hello,
I've seen on Amazon.co.uk, where the game is available for pre-order that it runs on Vista. Can I have the hope it will run on XP too?

Just looked at the Amazon.co.uk website and the product features have a couple of new bits that I haven't seen before, most notably the fact there will be 200 leaders and there will be some sort of political cost to use some of them.

Here's the blurb in full

Product Features
  • The game is played in alternating phases of giving orders followed by simultaneous execution, with an original three-mode turn-base system.
  • Easy to play, hard to master. Play a scenario over a few hours or a full Grand Campaign following in Foch's or Ludendorff's footsteps!
  • A large selection of Scenarios (x15) and Campaigns (x5).
  • The largest World War One map ever, with unequalled look and detail levels.
  • 6 playable major nations, dozens of different troops, planes and ships, hundreds of historical, political and technological events, over 200 historical leaders with unique abilities.
  • An original diplomatic system. Send your ambassadors all over the world to alter the balance of power between the Entente (i.e. Allies) and the Central Powers.
  • Organize armies, recruits and new weapons while managing supplies and producing munitions. Use sea and rail to move your stocks.
  • Put the best leaders in command (if politics allows you to!) and take care of your nation's will to fight!
  • Break the trench warfare deadlock by pursuing technological research or fighting the economic blockade.
  • Play secret stratagems to influence the course of events with famous characters like Lawrence of Arabia, Mata Hair, Lenin or the Red Baron.
  • Fight to re-conquer lost provinces, ensure European or worldwide supremacy, or just ensure the survival of the old order.
  • Playable via LAN or over the Internet in multiplayer mode.
  • Dozens of fully customizable parameters to make the Great War yours for modding.
  • AGEOD's recognised dedication to historically accurate, good-looking games!

Product Description

Manufacturer's Description
Play as military and political leaders trying to lead the troops, fleets, diplomats and economy of their respective nations to victory, in the midst of some of the toughest operations during those four years of the €œWar to End All Wars". Battle each year of the war individually via separate scenarios or complete the grand campaign covering the whole war from 1914 to 1918. Advanced scenarios will allow re-creation of the theatre campaigns. Also included are 'What-if' scenarios with alternative warplanes, which affect the course of events in the openings rounds of the summer of 1914 and allow alternative game play.

Well, if dollar and euro fall that could possibly lead to world-wide disastrous events everywhere, including game industry. It's a globalized world with multiple interconnections, after all. Well, i am not an expert, actually. :mdr:

I can´t wait to play this game, was happy that just ageod choosed to make a WW1 theme game. To be honest, I don´t own any of ageod games yet - mostly due to lack of time to play at all - but everywhere round the net there are so positive reviews and comments of them, especially about the AI. As 19th century and WW1 are my favourite parts of history, announced WW1 and (even more) VGN games have my eager anticipation. Well, just wantet to say, I´m going to buy them.

As for WW1 game, because of its new engine, my only concern might be AI. Hope for a capable one. Strange, but I've never tried multiplayer in any game. :bonk:

Let me just add, after reading through third feature preview, that the graphics look nice and atmospheric.

Will this game be available on Nov 11 in the USA? It does not appear to be listed on amazon.com. Otherwise, will ot be possible to download the game from this website?

Thanks!

...and now i don't no why but i'm sure there will be nobody to answer something sweety like Arsan : "Yes, of course it does! "

Let's hope that wine emulator will succeed to run it anyway...

Hy to all,

I'm Angelo from Italy. I play wargames since 1986 but I'll buy my first Ageod's game at 11-11-08 11:01 a.m.

I've a silly question but my French is much much worst than my terrible English!! :(

I've seen 2 different scrrenshots: one with a wonderfull and Huge Hex-map very similar to original boardgame's photo and another one with provinces. :bonk:

Why 2 different maps ??

Hi Angelo!
There is not two maps. Is the same map.
When zoomed out the provinces look like hexes. But if you zoom in you notice better the irregular shape.
Look hard at teh big map and you will notice that there are no "real" hexes.
I think each of the boeardgame hexes has been converted to a region. So in the end is the same.
You can think of the region as hexes drawn by a guy with Parkinson :neener: :D
