Naval Combat

Wed Apr 06, 2011 9:07 am

Hi Calvinus,

I have been looking at Naval combat and have the following points to make.

1. A survival check is supposed to take place when a single ship squadron is damaged. I have never seen a single ship squadron fail this check. Is it happening ?

2. A survival check is supposed to take place when a damaged multiple ship squadron takes its 4th or more hit. I have not seen a ship squadron fail this check. Is it happening ?

3. I have seen critical hit checks and it seems that these are working.

4. The Naval Battle log files can get very large but it would be usefull if the survival checks could be included to help see what is going on and to check they are working.

5. On one occasion I had a ship sink between combat rounds because it 'Suffered Majar damage while conducting repairs at sea'. Can you explain what happend ?

Keep up the good work Calvinus :)

Rob

Ok I will run the game in debug mode to check if there's something wrong in the check.

Why not?

See NavalRepairsTable.csv table, it means you got <= 3 with the dice roll, so sufferting an additional critical hit that caused the ship sink.

It means they were already seriously damaged (fire on board) and the repairs attempt failed, the squadrons exploded! :D

Hi Calvinus,

Did you spot anything while debugging Naval combat ?

Thanks.

Tested in Jutland scenario. I see ships being sunk by failed survival checks.

It's reported in the game log, I see. ;)
