The Speed issue.....

Wed Nov 24, 2010 4:28 pm

Hi fellow wargamers,
first of all i agree with all the forumites here that the game is a GEM!!! I could write pages of the awesomness this game is... :coeurs:
But.... Today i installed a demo of the new AGEOD strategy game about the russian revolution and.... WOOOOOOAHHHHHHHH I lost the ground under my feet by the speedy UI and MAP. So just to get to the point.... AGEOD and Calvinus plz can we expect to have an optimization patch for WW1 or thats it -whats done is done?? :(
I think both games share the same engine right? So why this collossal difference in speed???
Anyway I want to believe and hope that one day we will play this GEM in the speed that deserves!
WW1 le Grande Guerre deserve a lot of love to be left like this (speedwise)

P.S Calvinus Congrats on the newborn child wish you and your family happiness :)

......(wishes the game to run like revolution under siege.....)

Hi parasxos, and welcome to the forums :)

Others will have to address most fo the issues you raise, but I can at least reply to the following:

Nope. WW1 uses its own engine, while RUS uses the AGE engine, as previously seen in e.g. AACW and ROP.

WW1 is an adaption of the boardgame, and I don't think AGE would be able to simulate the boardgame without making major changes to it (which kind would defeat the purpose of adapting it ;) )

It is also my belief the speed issue is one of the primary problems that must be eliminated. Better today than tomorrow!

In some of the reviews I have read I found (often meaning): "... too slow, even on upper class systems!" and "... could be an excellent game if ..." :(
Greetings
