Sea Transport

Can someone tell me how to get a Britsh HQ (or small army) from Britain to Egypt. I activate a Brit army in Britain and click on sea transport. I try to move it into the Med but it hangs up along the coast of France. I wound up 'landing' it in France and moving it to a southern med French seaport. I try again to move it to Egypt and it hangs up along the western coast of Italy. Very frustrating! Please tell me I'm miising some basics of sea transport here and this isn't just a dorked up sea movement problem.

Sea movements can be no more than 4 open sea areas long. This is why you cannot reach Egypt in one move only.
