Where are saved games located?

Wed May 19, 2010 9:01 pm

I want to delete some of them to tidy up my saved game list.

You can also delete savegames using the game interface

That is what i thought was a logical location but the folder is empty except for a tmp.txt file. I have ensured that windows vista shows hidden files – still can’t see them. Any way a different file location can somehow have been chosen?

Sorry, but that is funny. Vista has been a pain for me too, but it never did that to me. I delete saved games from the data file at 10 or twenty a shot. You can do it from the game interface, but 1 at a time-bummer.

It would be interesting to know where Vista decided to put those files.

Depending on how you install the game under Vista (using the c:/Program Files/... in the installation path) and whether you are using the UAC feature, blah, blah, blah... Microsoft's Vista operating system tends to relocate files into locations that the original program/designers never intended obviously giving problems to users. When this happens we always get these types of posts. It has been noted in numerous posts that preventing the installation of games into the default folder location (in other words during the installation process, change/edit the installation path to NOT include C:/Program Files/... will prevent the relocation of the game files by Vista.)

see post #7 in this thread: http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=11319

Try looking under ...C:/My Documents/... for a possible relocation folder created by Vista.

I suppose this happens with UAC enabled

Look here

C:\Users\Your name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\World War One\Data\SaveGame

Note that AppData is hidden

If you install the game after disabling the UAC and restarting then the savegames go to the expected Program Files\World War One\Data\SaveGame

This thread was a big help on my Vista machine. This was driving me nuts trying to find the Saves.
