EUBanana and I were able to successfully hook up for some online playing today. This was my first use of the 108f patch.
We did not use any VPN program-simply game to game over the internet. The game does work in MP, but there is a need to be familiar with the "strictly turn based" mode.
There are some lag points, such as when a breakthrough occurs-if there is no battle the old battle screen stays up until it is done-which might take a minute-for me anyway (AMD 5700 duel core, 4 gigs RAM, G force 9600).
The one unusual thing in connecting with this game is the apparent need to run it as administrator. Everything else seems typical for TCP/IP gaming.
Just make sure that the joining party does not attempt to join before the host is ready (in the lobby) or you may have to restart the game. After any failed attempt, or even a normal exit, you must exit the game to start another one.
I will put up some screen shots of my router settings and the game start up later this week.
MP is the way to go-a crafty human opponent is real competition. 4 way playing will be even better and faster.
For a few tips, just for now, check out this other thread.
