Moving Detachments

I have trawled through the manual and forum posts to no avail: I cannot get Army detachments to move. A box pops up listing all the Corps and asking whether I wish to make it an independent force. If I say yes or click on an Army the same thing happens again.

This happens when I try to move the German II Army - one part besieges Liege and the detachment just stands still back in Germany, ecven though I try to move it. I am sure I am doing something wrong but don't know what.

Planning movements is done with the left mouse key.

Are you using the right mouse key? That's used for the change command stuff, exactly the popup menu you see...

Also, the movements are traced dragging the stack on the map, not the corps listed in the bottom frame of the screen.
