Hello to you all, I was contacted by Ageod's marketing man along with a few other friends of mine as we are re-enactors of the F&I war. I was a little dubious at first. Although I am a PC gamer I do like my production values and have never really enjoyed games by smaller developers due to lack of support, bad transaltions etc etc.
However I love historical games and how many games have ever been made, set in the C18th? Especially F&I Wars! So I have given it a go and here are my thoughts;
While the game was loading up, I flicked through the manual and thought, great this should take no time at all. I played the tutorial and was pleased with the movement logic as I am sick to death of the move one province a turn game no matter how big or small it is. It's great that mountainous regions really make a difference to this. Everything seemed very simple but I found the tutorial to be pretty slim.
The main problem I had was finding out details about the troops, what all the little numbers mean etc. I was pleased to find the message boards so active and after reading and playing my first campaign I found I really didn't need to worry about too much detail and could concentrate on the grand plan.
I have found the game to be very playable and, as mention elsewhere it is great to be able to finish a campaign without playing for months. I look forward to trying out some email gaming. Anyhow another definate recommendation; looks like I'll be putting some Ageod banners on our site!
Incidentally if anyone has any interest in re-enacting in the UK please let me know as I am secretary of an organisation called New France, Old England which recreates the 1750's in North America. Look forward to hearing from you!
