This game is rich in detail, truly beautiful to gaze upon, deep in all the right places and exciting in the areas where drama is called for. Its complexity is, purely and simply, a function of its subject matter, the layered sophistication of its engine, the dazzling variety of experiences it offers a dedicated player, and – perhaps more than anything else—the profound respect its creators have for the very History they so brilliantly manipulate – and their parallel respect for the intelligence and acumen of the people who comprise their world-wide market—all combine here to enrich one of the best strategy games I’ve played in years, and surely one of the best-looking games in the history of the digitized strategy genre.
