If you consider his examination on the game though, compared to the one pc gamer's reviewer wrote, it is much more accurate. I like the sound of:

Despite the incredible depth of its strategic gameplay, American Civil War could derail due to a few glaring issues. First and foremost, this is an extremely involved game that requires careful consideration of every move. This is far from a casual title, relegating itself to the farthest reaches of hardcore gaming.

He couldn't have said it better even if perhaps he's fond of Rome Total War (lol). Compliments to Mr. Thibault :niark:

Games without 3D are just not going to be praised by the media.Paradox understood this and changed.

Well... what "few" and "moaner" means could be the subject of and interesting debate... :siffle:
And what advantages (if any) the ugly 3D map gives to EU3 could make another nice debating topic...
But we are on AGEOD's forums, so we better stick to AGEOD´s games... :innocent:

Certainly; but their games are less and less historical too...

True !
3D is somewhat useless for this type of game and purely cosmetic; furthermore , if you want a good control of the overall situation ,you often need to zoom out and thus lose 3D benefits, if any...

Completely, absolutely useless.

3D Stacks of NPC are a cherry on the cake...but if AgeOD builds a 3d map as well then it all starts to make sense. Since eyecandy junk is not the goal of this engine i would stop right there...to 3d stacks and a 3d map. Result would be a graphic overhawl and it doesn't take a team of 20 graphics and animators to build. :)

The seemless zoom you get in the EU3 3D map is superior.AGEOD have already started making 3D units,3D map is the next stage. It's all about sales 2D doesn't cut it anymore.

HI
I think the number of D's (2D, 3D...) is not the point.

i don´t give a damn if a map is 2d or 3d. I care if the map is beautiful & useful and can run on an intermediate PC.
EU3 is 3d, but is ugly, not useful and for all his glorious ugliness demmands pixel shaders :tournepas
If they had made a beautiful and useful 3d map and sprites nobody would had moaned about it... :sourcil:

As long as AGEOD makes beautiful 2d maps nobody will moan about it (at last not the kind of players who are interested in this kind of complex games).

If AGEOD makes a 3d map as beautiful as the BoA, AACW or NCP ones that is as useful and don't ask for top of the line hardware, its all right with me. :coeurs:
More D doesn´t mean better of more beautiful.
EU3 is the proof. :siffle:

Cheers!

I prefer that AGEOD don´t use his time making one 3D map, for me is more important Ai and design of the game. a 2D map can be very usefel and beautiful and i think is easier to develop.

I agree, this map is perfect. All we need is WEST VIRGINIA written onto it, and the color fix to Allegany. :)
