Micromanaging tips

Wed Feb 25, 2009 10:13 pm

Anyone have any? try as i might sometimes i just forget about units, and often find troops that have been in an area for a while and i just didnt notice.

Im thinking of using the turn history in sections:

Go through combats
move stuff
go through reinforcements
move stuff
go through anything left
do stuff

I find the ledger bit some use, looking for naval ships, but its quite useless i find unless looking for stacked units.

I always cycle through the stacks:

E/R for land units

T/Y for sea

Q/W for locked stacks
Always ask yourself: "Am I part of the Solution?" If you aren't, then you are part of the Problem!

you should read the last turn summary panel, when you click on things it will show you where it was, useful to find stacks that have moved, for the stacks that did not move use the minimap.

Thats the best way to not forget anything. :coeurs:
My WIA turn process would be...
I first check the message log, clicking on the interesting lines and sometimes move stacks and units right away (when i have very clear what i want to do with the units)
After checking the log i use these shortcut keys to cycle through each ofl the stacks and:
a)- Move them where need it
b)- give them a one turn sentry order (Space) if i don't want to move them for the moment.
c)- Give them a permanent sentry order (S) if i want them to stay where they are forever or a long time (garrisons).

Sooner or later no stacks will appear when you click E/R or T/Y meaning all have already orders, are locked in place or have some sentry order.
That way you don't forget to move anybody
And last, i check the options and buy some if i have enough EP.
Regards
