General thanks, and one question

Mon Aug 09, 2010 8:15 pm

Hello, I'd just like to thank the developers for making this game as it's absolutely superb. I've been hooked for about a week now. I kind of wish there would be general thread for banter where I could post this, but as there is not, I'll throw in a question to make reading this worth your time. ;)

My question is this: Historically Benedict Arnold defected to the British after he felt George Washington stole all the fame from him. Is there a chance of this happening in game?

My turn for a question about leaders :w00t:

In the Chasing Jonathon game, how come when I am fighting as the British the Amercians get General Jackson (and a ton of units that go with him), but when I fought the same game as the Americans I got no Jackson and was forced to try and defend New Orleans with what units I could scrap together and ship south? Is there some event that I did not trigger (as the Americans) and that is why I got no General Jackson? Just trying to figure out what is going on.

Thanks!

The design is that Jackson will appear when the British Expedition appears...

...which requires all of these to occur in sequence:
1) Napoleon has abdicated, which has 33% probability per turn to occur (starting January 1814, you'll get a message)
2) Napoleon goes into exile (no sooner than March 1814, you'll get a message)
3) Six months must go by after exile
4) On or after November 1814

However, while reviewing this, I see that the Jackson event cannot fire when you play USA vs GBR AI !!!!! :bonk:

Thank you for reporting this!

A HotFix:
Extract into WIA\Events

Outstanding work! I was always assuming I did something wrong and that event did not fire. Thank you for all your answers and support to this great game!

Edit: Would you please check to make sure the Chesapeake Bay expenditionary force for the British event fires when a human is playing as the US vs. the computer British? In my last game they did not appear (but did when I was playing as the British the game before). The only thing I can think of is they sent them to New Orleans with the other force because they never appeared in the middle states. Thank you!

The Chesapeake Bay expedition is combined with the New Orleans expedition for the GBR AI.

This is an "AI Helper" to improve the attack on New Orleans..... :D
