BOA2 : Christmas Patch 1.04 (Public Beta)

Tue Dec 23, 2008 5:44 pm

Dear players,

All the AGEOD's team and BOA2 : WIA Beta team wish you a merry Christmas !
Santa Claus left something for you :

WIA_patch1.04

==============================================================================
BOA2 : War in America Update 1.04
Christmas, 2008
==============================================================================
This patch contains all changes since the start.

[1.04]

New Boston region & Boston Harbor defined, The Heights redefined [was 'Boston']
PREVIOUS VERSION SAVED GAMES WILL NOT PROPERLY UTILIZE THE NEW TERRAIN NEAR BOSTON: Strange movement may occur!
The only "land Link" to/from Boston is through "The Heights". To attack Cambridge from Boston requires Amphibious assault.

:coeurs: Many thanks to Jabberwock and Gray_Lensman for the graphics and ExMap work creating the New Boston configuration :coeurs:

Several regions now inhibit enemy naval movement if a fort is present
[The Heights, Quebec, West Point, Crown Point, Detroit]

Forts may be constructed anywhere during gameplay, not just in city

Many Spanish units renamed [thank you arsan :) ]

Fixed Canadian leaders in 1755 that weren't burning forts
Coastal Batteries may only fire at ships
Siege guns may only fire at land units
General improvements to land battles and retreats
Naval units can now retreat before and from battle
Merchant ships now have transport capacity [remember Dunkirk!]
Adjusted Mountains weather in New England to delay 'Spring thaw'

1755 Campaign - France has Merchant Ships in New England Shipping Lanes earning EP

AI
- Naval missions: Commerce, Blockade, Escort, Naval Superiority improved.
- Long range Defense mission can’t borrow anymore units set for Garrison Duty.
- Break Siege Mission had a bug rendering it not enough interesting to do.
- AI will see much less interest in doing Attack missions in winter.
- Transports without the Commerce attribute won’t be sent in the Shipping Lanes.
- In some rare cases, the Defend Mission could have his path aborted. Fixed.
- Depot destruction much more rare.
- AI slightly less prone to make distant operations (attack-defense).

Thanks for the new patch!! Playing as the Brits in the War for Independence, and after a year of fighting the AI has not attempted a winter attack yet!!

Cappe Hatteras

Fri Dec 26, 2008 9:50 pm

Playing 1755 scenary
It is right that now appears CAPE HATTERAS as ocean and not as coastal waters ?
Previously are coastal waters, and there could sail with bateux

I'm playin the game and AI has improved a lot, good job, thanks :w00t:

I can confirm the issue! (on 1776 scenario too)
Not sure if its a bug or WAD :bonk:

Yes. The seashore near Cape Hatteras is treacherous waters, and the sailing of Bateaux from Savannah to Philadelphia just didn't seem historical.....

A very good change. Having lived on the Outer Banks of NC for several years, unless you're taking the intracoastal waterway(nonexistant at the time) , no bateux is going to make it past on the seas during a good Nor'Easter!

As Mosby says, yes, all AGEOD patches (beta or not) are 100% compatible with Matrix or any retail versions of their games.

Playing as the brits full AWI campaign. Four things.
1 Merchant fleets when attacked don't unlock so that they can go to a harbour to recover damages, though it says on the tool tip "locked until attacked".
2 Von Heister a one star leader has a command usage of 1 even when he is stood on his own. Thought it might be because he's meant to be embedded in a regiment, but could not get him to receive any replacements.
3 I'm sure I've seen the message about "replacements for 2 lost companys of British regulars have arrived in Boston/New York", but are you meant to get this once a year, twice, or just randomly? Don't seem to be getting it that much at all. Is it broken or WAD?
4 I get replacements at regular intervals for irregular units, but have not seen any units that actually use this replacement. Replacements for light infantry and rangers that you could actually use to fill up existing units you can't seem to get at all, again is this WAD?
Excuse me for posting a couple of the above for the second time, but nobody seemed to bother about them on the "Help to improve " part of the forum.
Do like the improvement with AI lack of winter movement :D

Hi!

I can confirm number 1. It happens also with the new french merchans ships added to the 1755 campaign.

About 3: Not sure about the rate of replacements. I know there are some given for free by event and then some more you can buy through options. But certainly, British don't get much regulars replacements and receive many understrength regiments. Probably its done on purpose to reflect the historical situation.

About irregulars... yes i noticed too... but no idea if its WAD or a problem :bonk: :)
Regards

1 is WAD. You must buy new merchants via options.
2 I'm confused, but will look. Are you sure he's actually alone?
3 There are several events like thia that happen with certain ownership and/or probability. It is intended to be unpredictable.
4 Hmm, I'll have to look at that one.

5. oops, sorry we missed the 'improve forum' post. :o

So sounds like the tool tip should change.

It's the standard locked unit tooltip.... Will investigate alternatives...

Upon further revire

Wed Dec 31, 2008 12:45 am

von Heister and several other German leaders have a DB error that adds a command point requirement. Will fix.

The irregular replacements that occur annually can be used by Tory Rangers [those that appear in Deep South]

Will investigate replacements for light infantry and other rangers [there are differnt model/unit combinations in use]
