I see the new beta patch is out. Am I correct in assuming that we Grand Campaigners should hold off on beta patching, just like last time?

For this turn only? I.e. we'll use the new patch from the next turn?

Well, I don't know how the betatest of the patch will go but we campaigners only use "official patches".

TIP: You can create a separate installation of the game if you want to test the new beta patch.

From the 1.04 readme:
b) 13 regions have lost their railroads: 464, 465, 471, 472, 474, 553, 554, 566, 567, 568, 587, 588, 589

Not knowing which these are (I'm guessing Jim might?), how will this potentially the game, should we start using the newest patch (which we won't yet, but might be thinking of in a not-too-distant future)?

We'll be using patch 1.04 as soon as it will have been officially released.

The non-historical rail roads will disapear, this should not affect very much the game.

Having sampled some of the regions affected, I respectfully disagree. Not sure how many details I should provide here, but it has quite some say for the supply situation for a fair share of our units.

If it's the rail lines I'm thinking, yes, some strategies will need to be adjusted. :innocent:

Not just strategies, perhaps even troop locations?

My main point here, though, is that before we start using 1.04, we need to discuss which (if any) adjustments should be done to the game, something that all 3 parties need to agree on (USA, CSA, Korrigan) :)

I hear you Rafiki, and I understand the issue you are facing (I won't tell more here).

However, as stated in the GC game introduction, all official patches are immediatly applied. This means no adjustment. I'm aware that might disturb some strategies, but we all agreed on gentlemen rules. So we'll consider this as "fortune of war".

All in all, I think things should be balanced ovetime. The same side won't be always affected. IIRC, when patch 1.03 was implemented, no one asked for the US Pacific squadron to be sent back in the Pacific ocean (that it should never have left). Let's call it a draw...

Shit happens, c'est la vie! Or more exactly, it's just a game. :cwboy:

Best regards,

Korrigan

NB: Newagenapolean is sick, but hopefully he will soon recover and send the CSA turn. Best wishes John!

Since I'm not sure exaclty how the application of the patch will affect the game, I'll hold off on any large protests till I have seen what actually happens. Worst case, this'll do damage to the Union fight which IMHO is outside the scope of "fortunes of war", but I'll take that discussion if & when it becomes a reality. :)

In any case, here's wishing the best for NewAgeNapoleon getting well soon! Image

My suggestion is that we complete the current turn using 1.03 (including Korrigan's processing) and that we use 1.04 starting with turn 7.

The CSA having still not submit its orders, the Union can resubmit me a new version of its ORD file.

The rule is that patches are immediatly applied.
I won't process this turn with 1.03, unless the CSA agrees and with the condition that the full Pacific squadron is sent back in the Pacific and remains there till a foreign intervention is trigered.

I call this a fair deal. The Union can't ask not to be blamed by v1.04 while at the same time keeping the advantage of a bug fixed by v1.03. :king:

With President Davis sickness, I ask to the CSA generals to take measures in order to be able to send the CSA ORD file by the end of the week if their comrade is to not recover in time.

So be it. I'm sure the CSA players would much rather destroy Union armies themselves than have patches do it for them....

Now, I take it we should all not patch until after this turn is processed by Korrigan? Reason being, it is possible we have plotted to rail move on a rail line the patch has removed, and to try to playback such a 1.03 turn on a 1.04game copy would thus be a problem, right?

No it won't be a problem (except for the diet of some Union troops)

However, I will process the turn with 1.03 if every one agrees with my proposition. Then, everybody'll patch and all shall rejoyce. :coeurs:

Uhm, I dont know which federal troops could be in trouble with patch 1.04, but we would like to process this turn with 1.04. :niark:

We will sent our orders in 2 hours, so be prepared for a rebel strike on washington :dada: :p

Well, Korrigan processed one turn with 1.02a, as it was released (our orders were givin with 1.01x). Nobody complain about that.
And I think its not a fair deal, what Korrigan did mention. Its just fair that Korrigan use 1.04, cause these railroads are bugs.. :)

btw Korrigan: Is the railroad south of Richmond fixed? Thats the biggest bug :grr:

Then one can argue that the force being there is a bug, since the force *never* would've been there if the railroad hadn't been there.

I don't argue about the rules that where agreed upon; what I am arguing for is the application of what I personally (and from my admittedly non-objective place in this) view as fair, but a view which I now understand that others don't share.

Do know, however, if the turn is processed with 1.04 and you guys end up winning, I'll forever maintain that it was because of the patch, rather than because of your good gaming skills.... ;)
