Deadline is over. CSA is IN

I have not heard from Rafiki :(
The turn won't be processed before friday now as I'll be away for a work seminar.

ok....now I'm really going through some serious withdrawals :bonk:

it's as if the cone of silence (from Get Smart) has descended over the Grand Campaign.

I know Korrigan is away on business, but doesn't anyone have anything......I thought I remember a couple Campaigners talking about being a little behind in their AAR's.....this would be a great time for some filler :siffle:

Your "stuff" is greatly appreciated. One other thought I had about the project: I know the Campaigners sometime wonder if anyone is reading, but just think as the project rolls along (and even after it is concluded) about the people who will be able to "tune in" for a great read of the six of you struggling through the conflict with the added difficulties of communication and partial control.

As they say here in China: Jia You...or literally "add oil" as in to the fire. (often used as encouragement or to cheer your team on) :niark:

Rafiki warned us he was in a very busy space work wise this week, and might have trouble giving full attention to the game. It's odd for him tho, to be out of communication for this long.

I found one between Davis and a congressman, which was signed:

I am, as always, your friend,
JEFFERSON DAVIS

But it appears a lot of his letters are in collections that don't have reproductions online, which is a shame. One thing I loved about going to school in a southern school was that there was a ton of civil war material on file in the university library to access. I miss that. :)

The following link gives a few of Davis' letters:

During the war, he seemed to have used variations of the below for private letters and letters to subordinates.

Rafiki has connected to the forum since one week.

I hope this is just a computer problem, but I'm obliged to open a call to volunteers for this replacement as President of the USA.

Application are to be made here.

PS: Meanwhile, I ask to Spharv2 and Jimwinsor to submit me the USA turn (one of you makes Rafiki's job).

OK. Seems to me the most sensable thing would be for me to do the river moves, while my eastern counterpart takes over all the ocean moves. He gets to do all production and politicals as well because DC is in his sector. :)

BTW 1.03 is official, no longer a rc...shall we all go ahead and adopt it now? I think I already did, so if the answer is no I may have to patch down a step (?).

New turn has processed and sent to the campaigners. There has been a bit of action... but the worst is still to come! :cwboy:

I can only repeat my deepest apologies for seemingly dropping off the face of the Earth. I had a Plan to get things done in between finishing work before my vacation, travelling to a wedding in Italy and driving through half of Europe to get to Switzerland (where I'm currently on vacation), but my computer didn't want to cooperate with my plan, and it all fell to pieces :(

That said, I'm back in business and I hope I haven't let the Union war effort down too much.

Rafiki: welcome back, it's good to hear that your absence was due to vacations and computer problems....and nothing serious. We, the clamoring lurkers, may get impatient for new tidbits.....but do realize that life does happen sometimes.

welcome back :niark:

How about we compromise, and set a deadline of Wednesday? :siffle:

Well, it works for us lurkers, but it may be pushing it for you guys who are really doing the work :king:

You guys are doing great......but I'm starting to get the shakes pretty bad from the withdrawals :8o:

(Posting here, since this is where we discussed rules)

Korrigan, I'm finding that the president/cabinet having command of e.g. the Mississippi flotillas (as opposed to the western commander) is a bit artificial. Any chance you can OK that I can assign such control "permanently" to a given commander, since they are in indefinite support of ongoing campaigns anyway? Whatever he does with them will still be under presidential scrutiny (as is anything else he does... ;) )

I think Sunday will work fine, Korrigan (though I haven't heard anything from Sphar this round yet) :)

I think it's A Good Thing that people are asking for more, rather than less, by the way ;)

I was holding up for Jim since it sounded like he was working on his side, didn't want to duplicate work. :)

Sorry, did not see your question!

I think I've granted you this possibility to you somewhere in this thread. . So the answer is yes.

Just coming back from work, i find the new turn in mailbox: with something written from korrigan:"awesome turn to watch"..i immediatly thought of this chinese bless: may ur life be interesting...rushing on the save, i saw i took a blast, and for a part because i did not see that i forgot to cancel 2 movements from the corps already arrived at madison one turn ago..in consequence of expected defender behind a river i became the attacker.. ig, i guess Bragg will have a little problem with a council of war :siffle:
