Wed Nov 14, 2007 2:35 pm

B'jour,

ma collec du jour :niark:

- Bug

Have an option to stop the flag-waving animation over the towns - takes away the map/grognard feel!

It was Pocus who used the term "grognard" to distinguish between those who like 3d and 2d :siffle:

slowing down, movement paths, div. naming

Sun Nov 18, 2007 3:37 pm

Great game here, from the actually hottest enterprise in historical strategic-gaming!!

but a few things could be improved:

1. Esp. when concentrating many corps in one area, the graphics really slow down (even crashdown), so it's hard to reorg formations (on dual core PC with ample of everything, XP).

2. The green movement-paths should be changed to another colour: They are hard to see on the green map.

3. Some minor irritation with the naming of newly created Divs: Sometimes purely Cav. outfits are labelled "Infantry Div".

4. Oh, and every patch, update, new edition, that adds strategic depth (diplomacy, production, long campaign) really would be welcome!!

Regards

Window too small for Replacements list

Tue Nov 20, 2007 12:31 pm

In bigger Scenarios (e.g. France) the Window's just too small for the replacements list: Stops with Russ Generals, can't see inf replacement.

design issue: historical oob vs combat effectivity

Tue Nov 20, 2007 12:59 pm

This is a tricky one:

what I don't like is the fact that esp. as coalition player I spend lots of time in the 1st turn for rearranging my corps to minimize command penality.

This is:

a bad thing, because

-even with high end machines the game significantly slows down in areas with high troop density.
- it makes you wish to start with a saved game instead of the scen itself to avoid this situation.
-the needed oob manipulation for optimizing combat effectivity seems a bit defty compared with the short lenght of the scenarios.

a good thing, because

-it represents historical constraints
-it still provides a work-around.

To make it short, I'm not happy with this design issue for NCP1, but it's hard to improve it to get the design cleaner, straighter.

Perhaps:
1. add a general option: optimize oob / coalition oob command penality
2. add the grand campaign stratagic layer so to recover the time-proportions for rearranging the oob and for pushing units over the map.

Regards
