Army leader AWOL

In the Spanish Ulcer Campaign, my one Army leader (Murat) disappears suddenly on turn 5, and all my corps revert to independent stacks. There is no message to reflect the event. When I check the roster, the Marshal has evaporated, although Joseph Bonaparte does show up in Madrid and can be repositioned to reform the army.

Is this working as designed?

Yes it is.

I'll check things about lack of a more explicit message, may be the message about Joseph is lacking about the historical facts and why Murat left (he was so disappointed not to be next 'King' of Spain that he even fell ill)...
