Napoleon's Campaign patch 1.04a

Mon Jun 23, 2008 5:27 pm

Dear player,

An update for your favorite Napoleonic Game ;)

http://ageoddl.telechargement.fr/latest/NCP_Patch.zip

==============================================================================
THIS PATCH DOES NOT WORKS FOR THE 1.00 VERSION, if you have not installed
the Foundation Patch before.
==============================================================================

==============================================================================
Napoleon's Campaigns Patch 1.04a / June, 2008
==============================================================================

==============================================================================
Gameplay
==============================================================================
- Because of a large variety in size (from 500 to 4000 men!), some elements can assault with undue penalties in NCP (for example Prussian Batallion, being small, are very penalized in close combat). A normalization factor has been applied, for better historical results. Note that elements weakened always get a penalty.

==============================================================================
Scenarios & events
==============================================================================
- Improved Gibraltar defense: fortress is now level 4, with strong depot, reinforced garrison and a commander very able in fort defense...
- Cadiz improved to level 3 fortress

- Newly added Allied merchant shipping in some scenarios to provide sea supply capacity (very useful for the Brits in 1804, Anglo-Spanish in 1808-1814, but also the Russians or Swedes in respective 1812 and 1808 scenarios)

- Last but not least, included the complete leadership revision by Arnaud Bouis of all leaders abilities and values (pro-allies balancing fix)

==============================================================================
Database
==============================================================================
- Some leaders values adjusted further.

==============================================================================
AI
==============================================================================
- AI improved on several aspects (seeking the enemy, defending valuable position, resting troops).

Thanks! :coeurs:

Sorry, I do not understand what you mean in the change in gameplay, can this be explained a little bit more? :bonk:

All the changes in the scenarios are pro-allies! Yet I have not been able to conquer Gibraltar nor Cadiz in my PW games, so now... :niark:

Is it me or have you fixed something with loading times?

My first post here was about loading time. And now it is just below 60 seconds. The difference comes because now loading textures is very fast! Just a small slowdown around 20-22% and then quite fast. Same system:

Total startup loading time before 1:46

Total startup loading time now 0:58

Can anyone confirm? :coeurs: :coeurs: :coeurs:

Hi

Bad news from here :p leure:
I have a reproducible Crash with both a 1.04 installation with the new 1.04 patch applied on top and with a fresh install from the Spanish retail DVD directly patched to 1.04a.
It happens on the Spanish Ulcer Campaign, playing as the allies.
At first turn resolution (on day one) the game generates an error message that forces you to terminate the program :bonk:
It happens even when processing the turn without giving any order.
I attach save and logs.

Regards

UPDATE: After doing some more tests, it seems the problem is related with the battles resolution.
The Spanish Ulcer shows the error playing as the french or the allied a soon as the french assault Madrid (day 1 usually).
Tested also the Austerlitz scenario. If there is no battles on the first turn it processes OK. But if you setup a battle for the first turn (Assault to Mantua as the french for example) the error message will appear.
By the way, if instead of pressing accept on the error message you click on the X to close it the battle is resolved normaly, the result shown but the game crashes to desktop as soon as you close the battle result window. :bonk:
Hope it helps.

Checking the loading times I have not played at all, not probably till tomorrow :niark:

But arsan, have you noticed a better (shorter) loading time?

NCP loads faster than AACW?! How much times does it take to load AACW in your PC, and NCP?

But NCP is supposed to be more complex in map and unit textures that is what matter here, I think.

I have noticed that textures loading time is much faster now with 1.04a

Not sure why but AACW takes to load on my PC 2x or 3x the time it takes to load NCP. Maybe 3-4 minutes for ACW against 1-2 for NCP :nuts:
Probably NCP is better optimized graphically... but both games have huge maps and info databases to load.
Cheers

arsan's bug confirmed here.

Is it related with loading time? Something is not loaded on startup? Too good to be true :(

I experienced a crash also, one which seems to be the same as arsan's. I had started a new 1806 scenario and when I clicked to advance the turn, I quickly received an error message. As with arsan, a battle occurred after the error message, and, when I closed the battle window, the game shut down.

I'm including the save and logs. I hope they'll be helpful.

Sorry Gents, my fault. The new version is coming. I hesitated of publishing 1.04a directly to the public, but should have refrained from doing so.

NCP loads slower for me btw, bigger database :)
