Game download frustration

Fri Jun 20, 2008 5:19 am

I just spent three or so hours downloading the game, and users' manual. I read through the users' manual, then was ready for the visual treat of the game. I could NOT Find the game anywhere on my HD. Expliquez, s'il vous plait.

What you download is a "setup.exe" program...you have to run it to install the game (otherwise the game would be much too big for download). At some point at the end of the install process, the game settings tool will ask you to type the serial key number you have received with your invoice. :cwboy:

Please note also that Windows might hide the contents of the Program Files directory and you need to push a button 'Show contents of this folder' or something like that.

I was never asked for this serial number. I was able to read users' manual but now cannot find users' manual or game, NCP, setup.exe., Anything.

Serial Number/Activation Code :
Ageod : Les campagnes de Napoleon / Napoleon's campaigns :

<serial number removed by mod (MK)>

Copied from email bill.

I do not think that it is a good idea to post your serial number in a public forum.

Sometimes, I have found with games (especially those that use an external program to input the serial; ours does) is that you can end up with problems between full screen game/fire wall/anti-virus prompts. One thing which has worked for me in the past is to set the game to play in a Window (by editting the configuration files) and that helps to avoid missing prompts and pop-ups on the desktop. Once you got serial numbers and security prompts all addressed, then you change the game back to play in full screen mode.

Just a thought ...

I think FM WarB problem is just that he cannot locate the game installation file on his Hard disc.
FM WarB, you should look for a very big file (500 MB or do) called Setup_NCP.exe or something like this (not sure as i own a retail copy of the game).
It must be where your downloaded files use to end (desktop? my downloads folder? my documents folder? it depends on how you have you browser set up).
That big file is an executable installation file. Once you found it double click on it and the game installation process will begin.
Only at the end of this process you will be asked for your serial number.
If you cannot find the file, click again on the download link on the mail Ageod sent to you and begin the download again.
This time take good note where on your hard disk the file is going to be saves (you can choose the location before the download begins).

The manual can be downloaded freely from the link at the bottom of the forum. Also, it's included on the game setup exe and will be installed with the game.
But you can perfectly download and read the manual without buying the game. That you can read the manual does not mean you have the game installed.

Hope it helps

:bonk:
I was a little too late it seems :niark:
Glad it worked at last!
By the way, don't forget to make a backup (on a CD-R for example) of the setup.exe and of the serial number in case you want to uninstall the game or your computer crash. :siffle:

The forum has not been available for some hours here, was the reason FM WarB post with NCP serial? The forum collapsed? :niark:

The forum went down just after I sought help getting game up. Calmed by more coffee, did a proper 2nd download.
