Is it PBEM ready?

Tue Apr 15, 2008 9:24 pm

Bought this impressive game several months ago but have never gotten into it. I did a lot PBEMing in Combat Mission but it seems that the process was a bit clunky in the AEGEOD series; multiple files, no playback for one side, etc. I remember reading they were were working in some new utility that would streamline the process. What's the status?

I found NCP potentially appealing for MP because it's limited to campaigns - less green eyeshade stuff that dealing with the production aspect required, say, in their Civil War game.

It's basically still the same process--host sends out a .trn file that has the turn's events and battle resolutions, opponent returns an .ord file that has his orders. Both sides' order files are needed for the turn resolution. Yes, it's a bit different from most other PBEM games, but it works smoothly once you get used to it.

And yes, it lends itself well to MP. :)

We have added a TCP/IP utility called ARES for this game, but it seems few if any have a use of it, and prefer to use the good old PBEM scheme (as Heldenkaiser says, once you know which file to send, it is simple :) ).
