1813 GrandCampaign: the Armistice

Sat Oct 04, 2008 12:44 pm

June-August Armistice for 1813 GrandCampaign scenario is to be based over and to support some conditions.

1. Historical accuracy
It was an event dramatically influencing the Germany campaign outcome: in the Spring Napoleon achived a decisive field superiority over Coalition forces; in August the balance of power has clearly shifted to Coalition forces advantage.

2. What if conditions.....
Napoleon had realistic chances to beat the COA in Spring 1813 and to occupy Berlin.
That occuring, Austrian entering war in August 1813 to COA side is not realistic.

3. Forces reorganization
Germany 1813 campaign peculiarity is the great difference in OOB for the early phase, (April-May), compared to late phase, (August-December).
April-May forces were underpowered with unit ranks depleted.
Historically, during the June-July Armistice most new forces reached the fields and on field forces were reorganized in new Divisions, Corps, Armies.
I edited both a Spring 1813 both an August 1813 Hist Mod Scenario.
I had to use brand new and different OOBs, units, unit models to edit the two campaigns.
The Armistice is to be an event allowing to move from Spring OOB and units to August OOB and relative units.

4. Armistice is a no war time!
During Armistice turns we have to avoid opposing side forces engaging each over or any advance of forces in enemy controlled regions.

5. Garrisons & Sieges
We need to keep mind of Static Garrisons and sieges going on in Germany as in Poland.

6. Randomness = game veriability = player interest!
The Armistice as a game event has to introcude random factors increasing game variability.
Armistice lengh, Armistice end, forces redeployement on the field have to be managed so to grant some flexiblity but without altering historical accuracy.

I collected an hypotetical sequence of events managing the Armistice at the modding sections:

Here I can receive support and suggestion by most experienced AGEod modders and editors.
BTW, the discussion at the quoted thread is supposed to be tecnical, going after game syntax and files editing: may be not of interst to all games.

It's also true that the Spring 1813 Campaign , (Prelude to Leipzig - Germany: April-June 1813 TPC)is yet to be widely tested as regard game balancing.
