Spanish Regular Unit Reinforcements

We're currently playing the Spanish Campaign, with me as the Allies. Presently there seem to be no possibility of getting regular Spanish infantry reinforcements. Is this correct? We're now at a february 1809 turn.

- From "Spanish insurrection" you get 2 line inf (together with some cav and some useless militia). As it also gives 2 NM, you should press F3 each turn to check if this option is present.

- I think there is also a (random?) event called "coalition replacements" which gives some (6?) line inf replacements.

But neither source is enough to replace fallen line inf in any normal game. Frustrating, as the roster is always full of unusable militia and partisan replacements.

I put the worst div commanders in command of the locked garrisons, like Cadiz, Cartagena, etc.

Cuesta is the real bane of the Spanish army. I've never won a battle with him, even against Reille (not a genious by any standard - 2/2/2) with his division while outnumbering him by more than 3 times.

Incidentally one of the biggest problems with the Spanish officers is that only rarely do they get promoted to corps command, thanks to French victories, with the effect of having most of the army in unwieldy corps under La Romana (hopeless), Palafox (decent), Belvedere (hopeless) and San... something who comes with La Romana. There is also another one who comes witht the northern officers in 1810 but has only one star, but in effect can form a corps. I forgot the name coz I only discovered him yesterday.

I spoke too soon. In two previous games he arrived ready for promotion. But not in my last game. Maybe because I play with a slight randomization of officer stats.

Actually tried 2 games in the last week but he never was in line for a promotion.

I found a way around the initial dearth of corps grade commanders for the Spanish. I played very aggressively with Castanos army, attacking all the little French contingents until I was strong enough to go and take Lisbon from Junot. By 1809 I had Riberigg (you know the Swiss guy) and Ballestranos getting promoted. Together with Palafox they form the trio of infantry corps commanders under Castanos. The idiotic Belvedere is still in command of the cavalry though.
