Any U.S. Customers?

Tue Nov 13, 2007 11:54 pm

Anybody from the U.S. purchase this game? I was curious what the end cost was after the exchange rate.

Around 60 USD, I think.

If you want to buy the game and have pocus or philipe let me know you bought it, I'd be happy to send you a dvd with the file on it. Just pm me if interested.

Well....for $48 that's reasonable, downloading now. Now I have Napoleon in Italy and Napoleons Campaigns to eat up my time

Thanks for the replies

Close to $50 after AMEX charged me an exchange fee. Stupid credit card. Downloading now, it's 798.1 MB according to Firefox. Roughly equal to the size of the free Steel Panthers when Matrixgames first released it. Way back then, it took me 2 days to download it. Now, it'll take me ~1 hr. Ahh, how times have changed.

Let me know if you have any success. Are you using a download manager to resume the download?

I've got the same awful satellite restrictions. Are you using hughes.net (direcway) by chance?

I can provide a version sliced in 100 MB chunks. Just write to me and provide your serial key and you'll get the link.

You've been great about doing this with each game. I love your company and have purchased everything you've offered.

But an 800 meg file is going to stop me this time. Those 8 chunks would still take me several days to download. It's not your fault. It's the dilemma of living so far in the country that you only have satellite or dialup as the option.

I'm sad to say, despite the anticipation and following the progress of this new game since the start, that it will be the first time that I'm not ordering.

I had really hoped that you would find a CD-burning service in the U.S. where we could pay a company to burn the download to CD and then charge for the CD and mailing.

Do you expect this to be in a retail box at NWS in less than a year?

Hi Rasnell,
Sorry to hear that. I don't quite know about the eta for NWS, as for Napoleon our publishers have worldwide rights. Perhaps PhilThib can provide you more details.

Is a Euro and VAT the same thing because the $39.99 conversion to U.S. dollars is $58. Is that correct?

Wow the dollar is the weakest ever. I'm sure it's affecting the world economy, but I don't care about that -- it's making my games awful expensive.

U.S. customers -- is this converting to $58?

How it works:

* European customers pay 39.99 EUR (VAT included)
* Non-Eu customers (mostly you Americans) do not pay VAT (which rate is 19.6%), therefore you pay 'only' 33.43 EUR

Now, how many dollars ? Well, this changes every day (I would dare to say every minute). Blame the weak dollar... The average rate at the moment is 1.45 US$ to 1.00 EUR

As a consequence this gives an average US$ price for you of about 48.50 US$

Better -- but still a weak dollar. Thanks PhilTib.

And some of us are non-EU *and* European... ;)

(yeah, I know, tragic, actually)

"As a consequence this gives an average US$ price for you of about 48.50 US$"

And worth every cent! I don't mind paying for a quality game. I do mind paying for poor games whatever their price. A masterpiece such as Campaigns of Napoleon is cheap at US 48.50.

I agree and this is a superb company of independent developers to support. I'm about to own everything they've ever made.

I've got the standard service and I'm capped at 100 meg per hour. They are now waiving the Fair Access Policy between 3a-6a every day by the way, but it still would require me to do two days of downloading.

There's a great fellow consumer willing to burn the generic setup file. All I've got to do is order, pay and get the registration number so it will open. Many thanks.

Looking forward to another great game from Pocus and PhilTib. Really excitedly waiting for Vain Glory and something that will be more like EU and Phil's earliest invention.
