Conversion Help!

Sat Dec 08, 2007 4:52 pm

Hi, every time I convert the XLS to CSV the following symbol gets changed from...

§

into

õ

The problem is, when the new model names are implmenented the game sees the converted symbol and results in an error (which is why I keep on getting the wrong units per brigade!).

Is there somewhere I can go in my system, or Excel, to stop this conversion of symbols?

Ok, I downloaded and installed Open Office, which fixes this problem perfectly!

does it produce the custom names correctly? - I did exactly as you for the same reason but find that it only produces a list of US Inf Regts names into the middle of Pennslyvania- I wondered if Open Office had a limit on number of characters in a line.

Kind of annoying Excell gives you the wrong symbol but all the regiments while Open Office gives you the symbols but breaks off the regt list

Really? I haven't had a problem with the regiments being broken off...

Can you post the XLS and the Model files? If I look at exactly where it cuts off, maybe that can pinpoint the problem.

To clarify its when I use the splitter that I get the error message.

I just tried using Joes DB and the error point has moved to Wisconsin (14th WI 'WI Regulars') presumably because regiments have been removed from further up.

The error message on csv splitter is The line I 'WI Regulars'|15th WI ...|53rd Wisconsion has not 77 entries. Found 1, and is not a comment file. Line ignored.which I get once for each US Inf with custom names.

have attached the csv files I made with each program and the models I created with csv splitter.(nb:Excells loopiness seems to extend to some of the French units names and one of them wont open on being extracted)

What I have been doing is keepin a copy of custom names seperate and cutting and pasting over the ones above.
