AACW Wiki (Modding) - comments

Mon Sep 10, 2007 6:11 pm

Hello all Masters of the Wiki!

I took a short look to the modding section.
I was not brave enough to edit anything in the Wiki by myself since I would mess everything up for sure... :bonk:

Wiki wrote:Event structure

SelectFaction
SelectRegion (not required)
StartEvent
Conditions
1 or more conditions
Actions
1 or more actions
EndEvent

The keywords SelectFaction and Select Region don't have to be written before the StartEvent. Actually it might be more clear if they are set in the Action section, before the commands which require a selected region/faction.

An event does not have to contain conditions or actions. An event without conditions is for example the scenario setup. Events without actions might be used as a kind of counter, there another event checks how often the 'counter-event' have fired.
Replacement

Replacement = Faction]
Thanks for correcting the typo, but the keyword is in fact Remplacement (which is the French word). :) (Unless it was changed recently....)

Cheers
Norbert

You are right. But I adjusted the code so that both the initial typo and the legit spelling are supported now.

Well, you really shouldn't be afraid, 'cause:
- Wiki editing is basically raw text editing, with some extra, non-complicated, stuff for marking headers, bullet-lists and suchlike.
- You can preview any changes you make before committing them
- I'm happy to answer any and all questions you have about editing. MSN/YM are good ways of getting in touch with me.
- There's also an online manual with examples and suchlike, available from the editing page
- If, by some weird way, you really screw up the article, I have the power to revert *all* changes you have done to an article. Usually I only need to do this when vandals come around. :king:

That said, I have no problem respecting a reluctance to eidt the wiki. E.g. in your case, you have provided quite a lot info hereabouts, enough to keep me busy for some time (especially considering my current work schedule :p )
