Family Type

Wed Jan 19, 2011 2:51 am

Hello,

As far as I understand family parameter for models are useful for replacement purpose and used by terrain matrix but also make the AI behaviour differs ( Heavy Cavalry does not raid for example)

Is there a comprehensive document with all modifiers due to family parameter ?

Quick answer: no :)

The AI often check behavior by family, but really, you would not do anything of a doc I have yet to do on that. I don't see how you would alter anything because of what you read... Just use common sense... AI often consider family for usage, and that's it. But not always, because we never had time to make the perfect (tm) AI.

As for the combat matrix, there are only a few types differenciated (infantry, militia, artillery, cavalry and ships, and that's all).

Hello,

I think I was misunderstood, due to my lack of english language skill.
I don't want to alter anything, just want to know what will be the result if, for example, I create a model with Subunit = Regular and Family= LightInf.

Anyway, thank you for the answer, I really appreciate all support you give to your customers, most of game devs don't do that.

You can delete entirely the SubType column in Models.xls (not SubUnit), because it is deduced from the current family, this is a bit like Russian Dolls classification. This clean up has been introduced after NCP but works in NCP. Same for Kind.

You're welcome :)
