Options Pages pictures

Mon Oct 27, 2008 6:49 pm

Artistic pictures illustrating Military and Political Options in WiA are nice!
Is then possible to import them in other games as NCP?
Referring to Patched ver. 1.05a or superior

This need a bit of code change, but you can try adding an image reference in the option and see how it shows.

Definitely this needs a bit of code changes!
Anyway, it works but misplacing the picture............. Do not know If a could set pictures positioning.

What I did was adding ImageID in the Mil. Options EXl file:

ChangeActorPool = $gmaOptionMil;MaxUse;1;ResetFreq;0;ImageID;Opt_SYW_britsh_soldiers.png;Title;opt_title_USA_Repl_Supply;MsgString;opt_desc_USA_Repl_Supply;ToolString;opt_hint_USA_Repl_Supply;SubType;USA_Repl_Supply;SParam1;USA

To complete the test I added pictures to all options for the Side:

It seems like a wrong allignement troubles indeed. :D
Is that something to be fixed in AGEod codes or you can lead me to a fix on my own?

Now, I went after ledger.FTE files from FrontEnd folder.
After many attempts I got this result:

Image

This was producing replacing NCP Ledger@1280.FTE with WIA Ledger.FTe file, and renaming it to the first.

Now we have two kinds of troubles:
1. It's not yest optimized, and Optimizing it will be a long job, having to properly fit all elements: pictures, texts, Option titles, ledger arrows and so on..... Guess then, having just 2 Options per page could help: at that point may be more options ledger pages will be needed!

2. While Wia has a unique Ledger.FTE, NCP has more depending on resolution.
That can mean most Ledger.FTE files have to been optimized! :(

Let you decide if that is worth:....may be you could quickly catch a solution out of the hat! :D

So you understand now when we say that creating or editing user interface is a pain in the rear? :)

jastaV, perhaps you already got it with the last try.

Have you tried with a picture slightly smaller?

Besides there is no explanatory text in WIA, just the title of the military option

Yes, in WIA the option text is a tooltip over the image.

I know! :mdr:
BTW, my attempts were blind changes and check to see results based on.
If you could clarify ledger lines for:
1. pictures setting/positioning
2. Military option titles position
3. Tips positioning
4. Military option textual description positioning

.....then, I could go on with my attemps!

Not be in a hurry!
I Have already so many issues to go after, I could be kepts be busy for months!

No, but first it is necessary that you make it work :niark: ;)

Seems clear that you succeded, but it is needed to change the explanatory text for tooltip info as arsan said. Even if it is well positioned the picture would be too small with the text using space. We want "great pictures" :neener:

By the way the picture is the same for all the options, but I guess you know how to add a different picture for each option?

NOT YET, NOT YET!!!! :(
My last modding attempts produced a disaster! :(

but I guess you know how to add a different picture for each option....
It's the most easy thing to go after!
I'm using same pictures for sake of semplicity while testing "positioning"!

A last thing to think over: reducing to 4 the Nb. of selectable Options per page we could need to add more Military Options pages to the Ledger...........
Guess, it will be not so hard! :neener:

In the attached zip file there's all you need to try on your own!
:neener: Just Copy past over NCP installation directory!

VERY IMPORTANT

BACK UP YOUR ORIGINAL FILES BEFORE PASTING OVER!

Backup:
All ledger.FTE files in NCP/FrontEnd folder.
HistOptions08 in NCP/events folder.

No need to backup other files.

I cannot tried on my own the Ledger@1440.FTE file.
I please anyone having a monitor supporting such a resolution to try it and post resulting ledger/military Option screenshots.

All test are at your Own risk!
Remember to backup original files!

Have to admit I'he been very lucky this time: I catched out the lines to be modded soon without .... pain in the rear!

Now, I'm waiting for my favourite painter to produce Military Options pictures!
Ney: The army will not move!
Napoleon: The army will obey me!
Ney: The army will obey to its Generals’ orders!
