"Cheats" for firing events at will?

Mon Oct 08, 2007 11:41 am

Afternoon, folks,

I'm putting this in the mod forum because I think, You are the guys who ought to know best:

Is there any kind of cheat-console (like "F12" for most P'dox-Games) in which You just enter a command and have an event fire the way YOU want it?

Reason for asking: In our PBEM, wyrmm and myself like to get our events the historical way, but alas, he started a game and the St. Louis Massacre went ahistorical. We replayed the Late April 61 turn, but to no avail. We started anew, I hosted, we played the Late April 61 and the damned event went ahistorical again! Replayed four times, each time with the same ahistorical result... :grr:

So, please, is there ANY way to fire an event manually and decide which option will fire?

Thx in advance.

Regards, Henry :)

"Nee, Fritze, aber für fuffzehn Pfennije is' heute jenuch!" (No, Freddy, but for 15p let's call it a day!) - Retort of one passing Grenadier to the above :sourcil:

Don't know about how to fire events manually, but you've got a decent idea for a mod; to change all events so that they fire exactly as they did historically.

(Not my cup of tea, but I see how it might be for others)

Just play the July 1861 scenario and you do not have to worry about a thing.

I am trying to modify some key events to allow for player interaction to determine (at least partially) the outcome of an event. Currently, events either fire 100%, or you rely purely on chance. There is great potential to have events influenced by player action.

For one, I have revised the Patterson event, to have Patterson withdrawn from command if Harper's Ferry is not captured by August 1861 (his goal was capturing Harper's Ferry, failing that he was removed). It is achievable in both the April and July 1861 scenarios, but, should not be a guarantee.

The St. Louis event probably should have three possible outcomes (other than the two currently).

#1. Historic, Lyon secures St. Louis, Price and the Missouri Government raise the State Guard, but is poorly equipped via the loss of St. Louis Arsenal.

#2. Alternate, no massacre, tensions in Missouri decline (Lyon is not promoted), the State Guard is not mobilized.

#3. Alternate, Massacre, yet Lyon does not hold St. Louis (State Guard wins). Price's state guard is formed, but, well equipped due to the capture of the St. Louis Arsenal and its 40 000 firearms.

I guess you could modify the event to have 100% chance of the historic result (negating the unhistoric option), yet, why play the April Scenario if you remove all of the 'what ifs'?
