edit model. still confused

Wed Mar 12, 2008 6:14 am

This is what i have done so far. I hope it is right.

Opened AACW_DB_Models.xls with OPEN OFFICE.
Made a few changes to stats of a few types.
Then used "save as" funtion to save file.
Followed same procedure as i did when i saved setup, events, and city to make cvs file. Made sure semicolon was right and no entry in lower box.
Now i have a model cvs file. What do i do now?
I tried to use cvssplitter to convert files but there is no tab for models.
I used the other tabs but they made weird files that im sure are incorrect.

All help is appreaciated...Beeper

To convert models in the splitter, you need the csv file ok and then use the thumbnail "convert data".

Once in this one, you have a set of small buttons and you click on the one mentionning "mdl". This will export the models files.

Once you have them, do not forget to place the files in the proper folder (and in particular the alias file that goes into the alias folder) :indien:

Hi beeper!

Creating the model files:

1. Open the csv splitter.
2. Select the first tab: Convert Data
3. Select as Output ext. the file extension mdl. For the other fields the default values are good.
4. Select as Input CSV file your csv file containing the model data
5. Select Convert. This may take a few moments. The csv-splitter creates now from the models csv file the single model files.
6. Delete all files in the game directory ...\ACW\GameData\Models\
7. Copy all files with the extension mdl to the game directory ...\ACW\GameData\Models\
8. Copy the file mdl_Alias.ini (which was also created by the csv splitter) to the game directory ...\ACW\Aliases\

The process to create the unit files is similar. Choose in the csv-splitter as file extension uni. Copy the unit files to ...\ACW\GameData\Units\ and the alias file to ...\ACW\Aliases\

Cheers
Norbert

PS: It might be a good idea to backup the old data at first in case something goes wrong.

This should be put in the wiki!
I would, but WIA scripting calls... :niark:

Oh yeah!

I followed your instructions and i was able to edit and insert changes to the models into the game.
I played a few turns and all seems well.
So far Ive been able to edit the cities and models. This is a lot of fun!
Its just a start, but gives me an idea what is possible. I can see that the hard part of any changes is keeping it balanced. As it is very tempting to make uber units, cites, leader ect.

Thanks again.
