harder than it looks

Mon Mar 10, 2008 3:20 am

Im trying to edit the scenario file and have followed the instructions given with the db file download.
Everything seems ok when i open the xls file with OPEN OFFICE.
Seems ok when i create and save Setup,Events, and Cities cvs files.
Seems ok when I open cvssplitter and select setup/event tab and select the setup.cvs file in the top window.

Now the problem. I am instructed to press the make script button. Which i do. Now suppossedly the directory should change to Script.ini.
But when i press the button nothing happens. Same thing for events and cities.. Any ideas?

Any help would be welcome......Beeper

So satisfying when you finally get it to work.
What caught me out is you need to put references on the xls files to what your final file will be called once you produce it.
On the setup page you need to reference the cities .inc file you will produce from the cities page. And you need to change the scenario name throughout the setup and events pages.

Best of Luck!

I must say working directly on the output files has the advantage to be able to test immediatly changes made, without having to compile the scenarios.

But I agree working with xls files is easier and certainly more productive thanks to the copy and paste possibility.

Yes, compiling new scenarios is tedious. :innocent:

I try to cram as much into event files as possible, because you can change them without recompiling the scenario setup. [just keep the filename as saved the same]

This includes the 'events' tab in the setup folder.

I try to avoid the 'inc' includes files, as I think they only get 'read' when compiling a new setup....
Always ask yourself: "Am I part of the Solution?" If you aren't, then you are part of the Problem!
