Trouble changing the division limits in 1.15

Sat Feb 20, 2010 12:37 am

I've tried altering the setcombiunits item in my 1862 campaign .sct file to 60 for both sides and it's not altering anything. The tooltip always says 30 divisions and when I changed it to 10 on the CSA side I could still form my 15th division. I'm starting a new game each time. Is there something I'm missing? I'm new to modding so any help would be appreciated.

This is something that would interest me, as well. The 30 division limit for the CSA drives me nuts. How can this be changed?

Thanks Michael, this is where I was heading. I wanted to know if the event triggering the limit has to fire or not.

You can alter, dynamically (the game can be underway), many things with events, but you must host one turn to have them fire...

Note: Since this is an EVENT, you will have to run the first turn thru the 1862 Late March turn to the 1862 Early April BEFORE you will see the change in the scenario. In other words, you will NOT see a change as soon as you start the scenario even though you altered this BECAUSE the scenario starts on the 1862 Early March turn. You will only see the change AFTER the event fires.

Hiya.

Did all of the above (finally!) yet when i go to save it i get the following message (please go easy on the reply as i am not a computer Geek!)

Notepad message.

Cannot create the c:\program files\ageods ACW (in full) \ACW\events\1862campaign.sct file

Make sure the path and file name are correct.

Can someone please explain to me in 'scotty English' what im doing wrong here?

Cheers guys.

Scotty

Gray this is for the 1862 scenario - yes?, first if you were playing the Kentucky (April) Campaign Scn would the new upper limits to Divisions become available as of the 16th of the 3rd, 1862? Or second - if not is there (I think there OBVIOUSLY is) a similar file for the 1861 Kentucky Campaign that can be adjusted the

Hi,

Im playing CSA in the 1861 w KY (1.16 rc 4a) and Im in the late SEP 1861 turn. I decided to change the number of divisions allowed from 30 to 60 following the steps above in this thread. When I play the game from late SEP to early OCT it tells me that im now allowed to form divisions.
But I cant form divisions (I highlight the commander but the divison command button is not activated).

- Should I wait untill late OCT 1861 before the change is implemented?

best regards...

pd. I have restarted my comp
ppd. and I have edited the leader event file (made some extra generals available from the start and havent had any problems with that.

Hi GL,
thanx for the reply.
yes, i try all activated leaders i got and no division command available, only the "+", when i highlight the leader and another bgd.

I might have ruined the event-file (1861...) since i tried to make an extra unitpool-event that gave me more bgds, but it never worked. maybe that messed up the division command?

I played fast through to early november and still no divisions for me!

best regards...

Gray_Lensman wrote:If you got the "+" symbol then that leader was made a division commander and the "+" symbol is what you get when you highlight units to add into his division. You have to click the "+" to add the brigade/element(s into the division... You can add elements to the "division" symbolized by the leader until it's full (up to 18 elements total)

Hi GL,
Thanx for your reply.
I never get to press the division command button cause it never "activates". I can only add (with "+") one bgd to a leader when I mark more units then the "+" dissapears. If I press the "+" while having a leader and an unit then it becomes like a bgd-general, like jackson, longstreet etc.

Can you post your late Sept. '61 save game (including the modified event file)?

Hi GL,
Thanx for your help and time.
I just ran through some turns (late sep - late oct 1861) with the original 1861-event file (only changed the division limit to 75 for CSA) = same thing happens; I cant form divisions with my leaders.
I attach the savegame and the event-file.

best regards...

hmm.. I get an upload error: "invalid files". ?!!

sorry my ignorance but wich files do you need from the save-game? all?
I winzipped the save game and its at 3,77mb but still get rejected as invalid.

Edit:
- I changed the "1861..." event file back to normal, and ran a new game through early OCT 1861 = still no divisions for me.

- I pulled out the changed "CSA Leader event" file I have changed (set most of the commanders to spawn in 1861), reinserted the original one and ran a new game through early OCT 1861 = still no divisions for me.

?: I have editted the model- and unit-file to change some names, stats and pics on some leaders, but havent had any problems with that in earlier games. Could it be messing division command up?

I have looked in the ScriptReport-file and cant find any obvious errors.

thanx again...

You are working with the v1.16 beta files. You'll have to wait until the beta files are made into an "official" patch for me to work with them. I don't work with modding "beta" files for player/gamers since they are subject to change.

I was mistakenly thinking you were working with the last "official" patch files (v1.15). It does look as if you made the syntax change correctly, but since it's a beta patch who knows what might be in conflict.

Hi GL,
I understand. Thanx for the help anyway.
I will try to make a trial/error test with my modded files.

Best regards...
