Is there anyway to install all this manually ?

Delete the struggle folder. Download again the 3 SVF files and install the mod again.

where should i extract the SVFs ? because when i launch the .bat it tells me that it cannot find the path to all those things it is trying to install... I have a french computer but i have installed the game under the normal directory (program files\ageod's...) and the last time i installed struggle manually it worked but it seems that the struggle thing screws it for me (whether it is because my computer is french, or vista or what ?).

How should i do ?

Into the "AGEod's American Civil War" folder. My computer is French too. Now I didn't test under Vista

I just need to know which version 1.0 does the this mod effect, A, B, or C ?

I have the 1.07h installed from the disk. I have downloaded all patches from 1.08a to resent 1.0d. I do know how to make multiple installs. I plan on keeping the vanilla 1.07h virgin. I will use it to create the multiple installs and patch them. Please excuse the question, I am rather new to this game.

I suggest you to always uninstall - delete - reinstall 1.0 - patch to latest.

The best solution is to keep the 1.0 backed up so you don't need to reinstall (and save 2 minutes time lol).

However, 1.0 + 1.10d is just 2 files. AgeOD doesn't use the multiple patch over multiple patch philosophy and each new patch is the only one that needs be installed. Use 1.0 as a start point not 1.07h.

So it's game + single patch. Always. :cwboy:

Yes...whatever the installer comes up with, that's the version to start from (back it up).

Could you explain the solution...to integrate to the install notes file.

Thanks

Well basically I would unzip the folders in the right places and when launching the .bat it would say that it could'nt find the path to the correct places.. browsing through the the bat text i saw that it actually wasn't authorised to reach some places and this would throw the whole process in disarray.

The thing is I had already given my username's full administrator's right on the computer so that I had "total control" over it and could copy/move etc all things I could. Checking the security parameters I saw that my username was actually present twice, once as administrator, and once as user with only limited control. I gave my user version full control as well and it worked.

The strange thing is that I had the same problem the first time I patched AACW and that's when I made my username full administrator. I don't quite understand why the .bat would not use the administrator's right, since it was my username session, but the user ones..

anyway I know I am not quite clear but all i wanted to say is :

I hate Vista.

Is this problem related with Vista's Bug/feature called "User Account Control"?

I am not a Vista defender, I have it installed probably because I like to have the last, but it does not mean it is the best.

Just after got my computer I went to this site, I knew it from my XP times, and tweaked my Vista system as I had done with my old XP system. This is a site you can trust and you can follow the instructions safely. One of the essential tweaks is to disable "User Account Control", highly recommended for any Vista user. If you are brave enough you can tweak Windows services, for example it is not necessary to load Print service if you have not a printer installed...

I don't think the generals mentioned got removed by an event because Clovis would have never forgotten to add the log message ... i presume this is a bug, am curious about his answer too.

yes, seems to be the same

it happened to a.s. Johnston, t.j. jackson as well

bragg was removed (was commanding a corps at memphis) and transfered to nashville

Ok, so this seems to be a general (no pun intended) occurrence.

Another small thing - map icon portraits seem a bit mixed up.
It is not the highest ranking or most senior commander's portrait that is shown, but some, apparently random, other guy's.
For example, map icon portraits for corps seem to consistently ignore the corps commanders and pick a portrait of one of the division commanders instead.

But it's still a great mod, by the way!

I've noticed this too with Polk not being displayed. I was playing as Union and i saw Polk's Bde portrait with Polk, presumed leader.

EDIT: Hm, now general's portraits on map icons are beginning to disappear to be replaced by the Army HQ one. Somethings amiss... CSA 5th column activities maybe...

I will look at. As stated, he mod isn't yet designed for playing with CSA. There are certainly a lot of bugs when played against USA.

Couldn't figure out how to attach files to personal messages, so I'll just upload my !Main log file here.
Please note that there is a handful of screenshots to illustrate the problem in my post "Disappearing generals" in this forum.

OK...The good news: mod is working flawessly

The bad: there are yet bugs for CSA.

Disappearing generals: I suppose I've not implemented text messages for CSA events. So it's not technically a bug. Now, maybe the rate of retirements is too high. I will check that.

Hood: certainly a bug to be fixed.

For portraits: I need ( was planned) to check leader links with portraits. Problems come certainly from the fact I've yet to implement parts of the leader portraits mode and possibly from some typing errors too.

Thanks for the input.

On the disappearing generals: I had a feeling it was a feature of some sort, but having two of my best generals disappear on the same turn was brutal...!
So maybe it should be tuned down...

Would it be correct to assume that changing the Probability value for the event "evt_nam_USA_SHERMAN_notretained" from 2 to 1 would half the chance of Sherman going away? (in the USA Events.sct file, of course)

And likewise, changing the Probability value in event "evt_nam_USA_Shermanreturns" to 100 would make him reappear in the next turn?

Or is it more complex than that?
