Is there any way to increase the available zoom, in and/or out? The map is beautiful, it would be nice to be able to see it more closely, as well as making planning easier. It would also be good to be able to see the whole thing on the screen.

AFAIK it is not possible to increase the degree of zoom. This was discussed a few months ago. One possible "solution" is to use a small program called magnifier (it's freeware) that enables zoom over a portion of the desktop (it follows your mouse cursor).
